😂 Here's my low cost backyard: Go to shed. Retrieve Christmas lights. Tack up on back of house. Dig hole. Put leftover scrap lumber inside. Hose down lumber with lighter fluid. Throw in match. Invite 20 best friends over. Make fish tacos and margaritas with fresh limes. You have the best backyard they've ever seen. You are a legend.

Another budget idea is building or repurposing a piece of furniture (like a potting bench) into a bar/food serving station. We created different zones in our yard (eating/games/food and beverage/lounge and conversation). Each of the zones has a heat source (different sizes of fire pits and picked fuel sources that matched the zone type), lighting, and a speaker. Using plants also makes our yard feel more thought out and relaxing.

I want to congratulate you for giving me, by publishing your ideas, much knowledge if how modern Garden Architecture accommodates patios, fire places and water features nowadays. Its about what I had had in my mind to work out and I feel that my plans are very much enriched by your videos. I have only watched a couple of your videos so I can not say much on your ideas in other parts of a garden design although I have been very keen to the idea that in a considerable small backyard its better not to make paths that form a straight line in order to get the visitors eye to want to wonder to see of what's hidden besides the curves and therefore to make him/her get further into the garden and also when I attempted to do myself, in a DIY manner, my small yards design and gardening planting I wanted to put a feature to give a sence in some parts of the end of the paths as for the visitor not to realise the approximate side of the yard, falsely thinking that it is more extended beyond the feature put at the end. Keep up the good job, mate. I would very much like if you could put a comment with your points on this.

I like many of these ideas. I have several living spaces in my back yard, including a DIY firepit in one with string lights. My water feature fell apart from the weather. So, I'll have to revisit that. I have a rustic theme going at the house and love the dry creek bed and meandering water feature. But, I'm not up for the engineering and upkeep on those. I also have the movie screen set up against the house near the fire pit area. That is actually pretty cool and have a second location in the driveway so we can invite neighbors over to watch as the walk by. The mobile projector and sound gear help with the mobility of the gear. Privacy screening is a big thing for me now as is shade. I hadn't thought of incorporating a living space in the front yet. But, I'll definitely see what I can do once the driveway/walkway are redone.

Small front 30'x20' yard, north exposure with different ideas for a couple of small trees (only grow 10' or so) and a small back yard 50' x 25' completely wooden fenced and mostly shaded from neighbors 80' fir trees. And I'm a new sub thanks to this one video! I got some great ideas that I'm going to share with neighbors (we have smaller yards in comparison to our larger homes) and work on my own place as well. Setting all this up is great. Keeping them up and maintained is the PITA. If you live where there's trees and fall leaves, moss and already, how do you keep things clean? When it's time to wash your patio, how do you protect the furnitures and all that nice and fancy walls, pots and chairs? Even when you don't have trees, your neighbors might. Which means wind brings them to yours. Ideas would be welcomed.

How would you anchor the laser cut privacy screens into dirt? I’m looking for something that is solid at the bottom and has visibility through the top (to block my barking neighbor dogs from seeing us through the rod iron fence. We have a desert landscape.

I love the idea of using gravel for a patio or around a fire pit but I'm a bit concerned that some of the small gravel rocks will get stuck under my shoe and then i'll bring into my house and scratch my hardwood floors. I heard this is a similar problem with DG. Have you others complain of the same thing?
@christopherkranz92913 жыл бұрын
Yes, we have this issue. We currently have a peastone patio and the stone will get tracked inside. We plan on removing the peastone because of this. We’ll stick with gravel of some sort (just something with a larger stone) We like gravel patios because they are inexpensive, resilient, low maintenance, remains cool (as compared to pavers).

@@christopherkranz9291 I thought about DG but I heard it's the same thing with dragging in pieces inside

Ozzie - Thank you for this feedback - very useful especially if the patio is right outside the back door and not out in another area of the yard where gravel might not be so easy to track inside.

Your privacy options are great and I'd love to see more. Specifically, privacy screens, types of lattice framing, or trees.

I love your ideas. I am a single senior citizen looking for low cost deck in my backyard. My yard has lots of tree roots so a low wood deck 12 by 12 would be great maybe add a cover at later date. Can you tell me how to find easy plans for this project?

I like the gravel patio. how would you compate it to decomposed granite?

Pretty much the same. Yes, go for it. Thanks for watching and commenting

My favourite idea is the concrete sitting bench with the wooden slats and the metal fire pit (03:12). Definitely a DIY option which won`t leave you bankrupt.

Options for walkways and paths. Also how to incorporate planters into the design (either built in or free standing).

A really inexpensive privacy screen is lattice with a vining plant growing on it. Paint the lattice and it can look really nice.
@bearfog073 жыл бұрын
That sounds great!

We agree! Just put up some metal screens around our A/C and started a plant-vine crawling up - a few days later it is already becoming this cool vine covered privacy screen - Good Idea Beege 44!
