We have a spray bottle called a Misto. We fill it with our olive oil and pump it up to use as a spray so that we don't need to buy the spray oils. It saves us so much money since the spray oils in the grocery store are more expensive than regular bottles of oil.

The further away from where you are burning your wood, the slower you can cook. I warm up my soup slowly on the most right side of the woodburner. The more to the left of the cooking plate I go the warmer the plates is so the quicker it cooks. I love using the woodstove in the winter. Warmth and cooking and backing.

First, thanks for the Falafel recipe! I love cooking with beans, but had never cooked with chickpeas before. I finally bought a pound last week, and was looking for recipes. Second, I have a recipe for cheese strata that my mother in law gave me years ago when my hubs and I were really broke. It's just cheese, stale bread, eggs, butter and milk. It comes out puffy and souffle like. So yummy!

I just had my husband dig up the last of our leeks to come in so I think your tart will be on the menu tomorrow. We can't easily keep them in the garden where I am in Canada as we get too cold over winter so I bring them in and dehydrate them for winter-summer cooking. I've got three 2 litre jars full of them this year!!! Cheesy dishes...You can't beat a good cauliflower cheese casserole. We quite like it as a main dish with a side salad.

now there's something I didn't know, but which makes perfect sense when you think about it - that chick peas are easier to mash when hot! We eat falafels regularly, we have them in pita bread with coleslaw. To make sure my children would at least try them when I first made them, I told them they were 'crabby patties' a la Spongebob Squarepants - was years before they worked out what they actually were , and by then they loved them :)
