Absolutely delicious. If the number of the dough pieces on either side is equal the plait is easily to form. Thank you so much for this recipe

Super yummy! I've made a sweet version of this with a yeast dough and cream cheese spread on the bottom and raspberry jam spread on the top and then braided . Everyone thinks it's amazing. I will give this version a try 👍

I make a sausage and rice plait with added spring onion. Delicious and stretches the sausage meat even further. Jane I would love to see you do a video about stretching a piece of meat such as a gammon joint or whole chicken for 3 or 4 meals for 2 people x

Looks fantastic! (In the US, we call it a braid, not a plait - most Americans aren't familiar with the term "plait" - not saying you should change your title but maybe in the keywords in you description box, add the word braid - it will help when people do searches for that type of recipe)

I might make this over the Jubilee weekend as it would make a nice centrepiece for a buffet tea. Maybe you could show some ideas for other tasty buffet food which won’t break the bank eg devilled eggs, salmon mousse (tinned salmon) smoked mackerel pate etc

Is Jubilee weekend a yearly event or is there a special jubilee this year - for 60th anniversary of coronation? I want to celebrate Jubilee Weekend too!!!
@FrugalQueeninFrance2 жыл бұрын
@@freakinfrugal5268 it’s not annual, just the big numbers
@somersetgirl1252 жыл бұрын
@@freakinfrugal5268 No the the Jubilee is a special occasional event to celebrate the reign of Queen Elizabeth. There was the silver jubilee for 25 years, the golden jubilee for 50 years, the diamond jubilee for 60 years and this year it’s the platinum jubilee for 70 years. There are 4 days of celebrations - a long weekend which includes 2 bank (public) holidays. There are lots of official events around the country but esp in London and unofficial things like street parties everywhere. We’re having a village party at the village hall in our community and we’re lighting a beacon in the evening on the hill above the village. There’s a network of beacons being lit around the country. Hopefully we’ll be able to see other beacons lit by other communities.

Your sausage plait looked super yummy Jane! It makes me so mad when I see the chefs on tv throw away the pastry trimmings! I always used mine for a few jam tarts when the children were small but now I usually freeze it like you do for use later!
@veemcg36822 жыл бұрын
This is great Jane I can hardly wait to try making it. I have wholemeal flour and butter...do you think I could use some olive or sunflower oil instead of the lard?...or maybe that would just make a mess? I have sausages that I'm going to 'skin' as I haven't been able to get sausage meat. I wish you'd make a vegetable or chicken curry from scratch so I could use things I regularly have and not the jars or bottles of sauce you see in the shops that have God knows what in them. The simpler and more wholesome the better. Thank you. Vera from Northern Ireland

How much flour is that for that size.
@Lee-fb4oj2 жыл бұрын
looks like two cups of flour then one cup of unsalted butter (but Jane used half butter, only one stick, and half lard) then 1tsp salt and 1/2 cup cold water
