I see the word Normal can mean totally different things, to different people, i wouldn't consider 600 to 700 hp Bracket Engines to be Normal. There's basically a Limitless Number of different Bracket Race Combos, could be 100-1,500 hp Vehicles. To me, when it comes to Bracket Racing Set-ups, there isn't Anything Normal about Bracket Racing. I do understand what you mean tho.

Bsfc of turbo engine is higher for cooling
@Rx7man2 жыл бұрын
@@needmoreboost6369 Maybe not to the extent of a blown engine, but they'll run richer for cooling as well, especially since many aren't intercooled
@needmoreboost63692 жыл бұрын
@@Rx7man the increase of bsfc on turbo motors is for cooling but the reason basically is down to increase of exhaust back pressure retaining more heat in the combustion chamber,many other factors will alter this as well the biggest being camshaft profile and the pressure ratio between incoming air and the pressure of the exhaust leaving, with supercharged and na motors the small amount of reverberation causes some exhaust gas to remain in the cylinder for the next cycle but not near as much as turbo especially a small turbo’d engine, this is part of the art for these guys at this level of development, cam science rules!

You had a 540 before, and swapped it for a 496? Why? I'm also surprised that you're running 93 octane rather than E85. I like the swap from roots blown to turbo.
@FlynnTaggart232 жыл бұрын
Without knowing stroke and bore one has to assume less stroke being the major difference. What does less stroke do? most significantly produces less torque and takes some pressure off the bottom end, helps aluminium rods last longer... In practice it also softens the launch and moves power development up the rpm range a bit. Jason Cantu runs a sub 500ci big block. Cali Nate runs a 470 in my little pony... most of the fast guys on smalls (some run big tire as well with the same combo) on the street are sub 500ci, a couple 540 but you have a tough time finding anyone with a winning boosted combo over that. N02 is a different story though. I guess it comes down to where he will run his car? but 93 octane fuel suggests closer to the pump than the track? but who knows.
@Marcus2750-u1t2 жыл бұрын
Roots are heat pumps…….
@totensiebush2 жыл бұрын
@@FlynnTaggart23 a typical 496 and 540 have the same 4.25 stroke, difference is the bore - 496 is a .060 over 454 for 4.310, 540 is 4.500 which requires an aftermarket block
@FlynnTaggart232 жыл бұрын
@@totensiebush Maybe? But there are so many block, crank, piston combinations out there these days it's not like the 1960's where you could tell. Plus you can buy engines from chevrolet factory with a bigger bore than a 454/4.310 inch so... Steve mentioned it had his pistons so it is a possability, but as I started and finished before: "without knowing the bore and stroke" & "who knows"...
