+Radian Al in some cases, yes this argument may be true and 750 ti I think even supports shadowplay whereas the gt 1030 doesn't, but the gt 1030 will be supported after the 750 ti stops being supported by nvidia and it uses less power and is lower profile. Besides to get a cheap 750ti(cheaper than 70 bucks), you would often need to go to sites like ebay or craigslist, and some people don't like to use such websites to get such stuff (such as myself). in laptops, you won't even be able to find a 750 ti in a laptop. But, there is the mx150; a card that performs about the same as a gt 1030 that you can find in laptops as cheap as $500-600 .

I don't really understand how people who don't have a lot of money get all butt hurt just because they can't afford something right now. Just wait, save up money even if it's just pennies and cents it will eventually add up enough, so you can buy something that isn't garbage. Technology will always move forward and get better as time goes by, so the longer you wait, the better the stuff you buy later on will be.

1TerraHertz Again, save up for a better card. As for the sake of your hypothetical job situation, there's always looking for better jobs though if you're in a situation where you only earn $1 per month overall, gaming shouldn't be your concern in the slightest.

If you can only save up a dollar each month for a graphics card, then I don't think gaming should be in the list of priorities. Also you don't have to buy graphics cards or computer parts new, it's more than likely that you can buy cards that have been in use for 3-4 years and they are still absolutely fine and are most likely on sale under 50$

You bought the wrong GT 730. The GDDR5 edition is far faster and within the same budget range. It's even recommended by sites like Tom's Hardware for it's surprisingly capable gaming performance.
@Spencerwalker218 жыл бұрын
Lol yeah right so like what 10-15% better performance making it barely better than integrated Intel GPU lol fail
@IronOreGaming8 жыл бұрын
Spencerwalker21 You seem intelligent. That was a joke. Haha. The GT 730 GDDR5 edition gets an average of 63FPS in GTA V, 49 in Battlefield 4, and 61 in GS:GO. I'd like to see an R7 240 do that (Hint: It won't). The higher memory bandwith makes all teh difference. The only reason to use an R7 240 or 250 is if you've got an AMD A8 or A10 APU and want the extra performance with a Dual-Graphics option, which show decent FPS increases comparable to some more expensive cards.
@Spencerwalker218 жыл бұрын
+IronOreGaming yeah I'm not referring to the amd 240 misunderstood your comment but it's still a terrible buy if your buying a new system get a apu and save to buy a GPU fir later or buy a used gtx 660
@tyaty8 жыл бұрын
+IronOreGaming A GDDR5 240 can be just as good, but it is brutally underclocked by default, in order to get 18W TDP. The same ( except 1 CU is not cut down) GPU on 250 runs at 1ghz by default. Oland and GK208 GPU-s are roughly equivalent with each other. And they both suck as desktop GPU-s.
@IronOreGaming8 жыл бұрын
Spencerwalker21 That's also a viable option, I won't argue that it isn't. If you're on a super-limited budget, buying used is probably the best way to go.

I laugh at the ppl saying we need an updated version. For what? To just rehash the exact same points again? Nothing has changed besides the names of the current entry level cards. Just look them up! The concept is very simple - Don't pay significant money for an entry level card. If it's more than like 20 bucks or so, don't even bother. If you just need a GPU, get one of the cheap low profile ones used for peanuts. If you need performance, get something higher end that's used instead. & if you have a newer modern CPU, it's integrated graphics are very likely in line with that entry level card you're looking at & thus you don't need to buy a GPU at all! The points mentioned here will be valid for a very, very long time. Just insert whatever the latest entry level cards are in place of the ones mentioned here & you're good. This is not rocket science, this is all just very basic common sense, something that many ppl apparently lack.
@bingo4money18 жыл бұрын
As an answer to "what entry level GPU should I get?", GTX 750Ti. You can even get some beast EVGA ones. EVGA GTX 750Ti SSC is 119$ on amazon right now, base clock of 1215mhz, 2GB VRAM, and power requirement of 500watts, I even ran my stock 750Ti on an old 300w Dell PSU. Its better than a 660 which used to be the standard, and its cheap as fuck while pulling enough weight to almost get to PS4/Xbone levels of performance. I used a stock 750Ti for a long time very close to a PS4s performance and only upgraded to a 970 to get a jump past the PS4s performance.

Eliminating variables and making sure the experiments and benchmarks are consistent in terms of the CPU-versus-GPU performance ratio.

Heres a fair point in here; 3:00. Used components. I recently sold my old GTX 770 2gb for $80. This is a card that is capable of running literally everything out there on med-high settings on triple A titles for 1080P. Certainly far from the realm of 60 fps flat(Why I upgraded); but plenty. For that price, you can buy a new r7 240, a gt 730, and *with a rebate* a gtx 1050 TI. With exception of the 1050 TI*as its performance is closer to a gtx 780* This is a deal that can't really be beat, assuming the card was well taken care of over the years. I never overclocked or touched voltages, so that is a check. I did, however, neglect to dust it out regularly. I never really had to, as the max temps it ever got to on the core was 67C while gaming, and 71C benching, even with a blanket of dust. The ACX cooler on it was just that good. But this was a $400 card in 2013 when I bought it ($409). I could even have held onto it for another year and still be able to run everything, assuming the card continued to work. That's an ownership window of 4-5 years. That said, going on another year or two would likely be as far as it would go; but who is going to stop you from buying an old GTX 970 for $80 in two more years? If you are on a strict budget, consider used before new, because you more often than not get less for your dollar in that ultra low range.

There are some reasons a terrible graphics card can be a good call. People who don't care for gaming but want improved graphics like photoshop artists or people who want GPU video decoding could get something out of getting a terrible card. Also people who do play games but either rarely or only low requirement games like Hearts of Iron would benefit from a terrible card. I can't play it on my laptop computer with only intergrated graphics but newer laptops even with a worse CPU but a dedicated (and terrible) graphics card don't blink an eye. People like my dad with a poor CPU, rarely play games and would be happy with a slideshow type FPS and have the CPU struggling with 2d graphics would like the bottom end graphics cards. Personally I'm both a gamer and someone who likes high quality. I've got experience with cheap graphics cards with laptops but do wish they would follow linus' advice. Desktops I'm well out of the low end price band. However I do still think there is a place for cheap graphics cards, its just not much of one. A side note is that for that price point you want to look at the lifespan of the computer and one step up with the graphics card ultimately means you will be upgrading less frequently and spending less money. On the flip side the main market for cheap graphics will be limited by the rest of the system anyway and either don't have the knowledge to upgrade or swap between laptops, desktops, small and large form factors and ultimately can't drag the card along with them. Ie parents getting computers handed down from their children.
@Cyortonic8 жыл бұрын
But why would you overpay for something that sucks.
@olivialambert41248 жыл бұрын
Cyortonic It depends on your workload. Why would you overpay even more for a gaming card you don't need if your sole usage is to use photoshop more efficiently?
@Cyortonic8 жыл бұрын
Olivia Lambert But this card does worse than the Skylake onboard graphics, and it's $80.
@olivialambert41248 жыл бұрын
Cyortonic Well considering an AMD computer with this card is cheaper than skylake that's not a great argument. And since most people looking to buy this card will be running ancient computers like a Core2Duo or an old 2011 Sandy Bridge i3 I doubt the ancient Intel graphics will be relevant. Add to that the fact that I've personally been very disappointed with every Intel graphics generation I've used,currently a 4th gen i7 and the fact that even terrible and ancient NVidia cards have decoded videos and handled generic tasks for me far better than any Intel graphics solutions ever have and I'd prefer that GPU to Skylake onboard graphics any day. I recently pulled a GeForce 7950 out of my dads computer, a 2006 GPU. Do you really think he is going to need a 970 when he was happy with the 7950? Or indeed will he want the power bill and PSU stress of an upgrade? And finally the single slot 7950 with its tiny heatsink taking up less than a quarter of the card's space barely fit in his system, should I rebuild in a case which won't fit on his desk just to shove a tri-fan AMD Fury in there? No, give him something modern enough to be compatible with semi-modern drivers and handle videos and Windows Vista without a huge power load and he's happy. Comparing a pathetic graphics card with 6700k onboard graphics is as stupid a comparison as testing the two on games. The original criticism of the tests was right, they re looking at it from a gamer's point of view. If you're spending that little on a graphics card what makes them think you've got enough for a 6700k either? And if your system is that pathetic what makes them think modern games like far cry 4 are a good measure of performance? My dad runs 2d games like hearts of iron, he does the most basic work on videos and he runs windows vista and wants multiple ebay windows to work, the 730 is a better card for him than the 740 and even if they were the same price I'd take the 740. And to finally make the point I recently upgraded my system and offered him the old components. He could have had a system capable of running any current game, 70fps GTA 5 for free and he turned it down for his ancient 2011 i3 because he'd rather 2d games and laggy windows vista for ebay than a higher power consumption and larger case. The 730 has a place. Its not for us gamers but then again if you're buying a £2000 system (around $3000) you're not going to care about a $40 graphics card nor see its role. Their testing methodology proved that much.

You were picking on AMD last time around. Don't think that AMD users don't notice the poor attitude against AMD Graphics on your channel. Even when they are better in price point for performance. Like the 370, 380 and 390. Each card is faster than it's nvidia counterpart. Where are those videos? Oh wait, you are an nvidia sponsored channel.

Evan white, I recently did something like this. I used a msi cubi i3 with its onboard graphics. While it seems like it's crap out of the gate it has surprised me at every turn when running mame under linux. Using the default drivers for video the latest 3d game I attempted to play was street fighter ex2 and it played flawless. Soul calibur it chugged. Ridge racer1 dipped below normal framerates but was very playable. Now because the CPU was an i3 it still worked pretty damn good for myself. I have heard through the grapevine that if you can get a mini pc with an i5 CPU it's pretty good for setting up arcade games. Also if you are fending for a card the 210 is okay as it's opengl capabilities is pretty solid. Also if the 710 is actually not stupidly priced it's pretty solid.

Is a 2gb 950ti good for league of legends? Could i run another game?
@HScarlet8 жыл бұрын
Easily, the GTX 750Ti can play Cyrsis 3 at high plus settings, so a GTX 950 should be able to play anything. But the new GTX 1050 Ti is more or less directly rated between a GTX 960 and a GTX 970 at around $149 I think, so it's a better buy.
@zimtaria89708 жыл бұрын
DDuMas Thanks. Do you think skyrim can run on ultra?
@HScarlet8 жыл бұрын
Possibly, not sure. But for context, the GTX 750 Ti can run Arkham Knight at 30fps really well, maybe better than consoles and that's not a great port. So there's a good chance the GTX 950 could max Skyrim, I expect the GTX 1050 Ti probably would if the GTX 950 couldn't, especially since it's a 4GB card. Can you get a GTX 950 on a special deal or something?

@jcm26068 жыл бұрын
Alex4SiliconValley AMD offers great budget cards, and also scale better with DirectX 12 meaning when games start to move over, unless NVIDIA dedicates Pascal to DirectX 12, AMD will be a bit ahead of NVIDIA in terms of performance. The only problem I have with AMD is their drivers are hit-and-miss, it's sometimes best to sit a couple patches behind, especially if OpenGL is the renderer of your choice (so you're playing something like Minecraft or are using Linux). Though, they seem to be getting better.

The point in low end gpus is too usually to just throw them in a old dell for a cheap tf2/csgo machine since (in tf2s case at least) something like a gt 1030 vs gtx 1050 ti provide almost identical performance when the 1050 ti costs 70 more bucks and requires more power that a power supply in an old pre built may not have.

What about for low energy usage? I kind of want to go off-grid one day but I'm a gamer. A good power efficient PC that's still capable of playing modern games would require somthing that isn't top tier. Do these budget graphics not perform well in power efficiency?
@Matt-sj4ib7 жыл бұрын

Yes they do, the thing is the GT 730 GDDR5 version costs around 100 bucks in Canada, which uses 25W power, great right? But, the GT 1030 is only 15-20 bucks more than that and offers nearly 50% better than the GT 730 GDDR5 version, and it uses 30W of power. Then, what's the point of buying the GT 730? The benchmark was collected by myself and while I do not have both cards but only a GT 730, my cousin, who lives with me, has a GT 1030, and I'd rather save 20 dollars to buy the GT 1030 instead of the GT 730. Sadly, I bought the GT 730 a month earlier than the 1030's release...
