There is a lot of manufacturing in the US for things that matter, like cars, fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, semiconductor chips, food processing(canned goods, canned/bottled sodas, bottled ketchup, etc), paper towels, toilet paper, tissue paper, jet engines, military equipment, military vehicles, construction machinery, farm machinery, night vision, thermal imagers, parts for EUV and DUV lithography machines, chemicals, steel, bauxite, furniture, lumber, refined petroleum products, electicity, medications of all types, etc. However, many industries are highly mechanized and automated, so very few people are needed to work in them. This idea that we need to do jobs done by machines is regressive. In most factories, processing, plants, and manufacturing plants in the US, engineers, technologists, and technicans are needed instead of unskilled wotkers

btw, the COLA for SS reduces the real value of the check every year it has been calculated that the real value of a SS payment since 2000 has declined by @40% because the COLA is designed that way, it does not keep up w/ the real inflation rate which is much higher than the gov admits

When you live in a free market economy, this is what to be expected. I'm seeing more electrical bicycles on the road so it could be a cheap way to get to and from work.

Keep in mind, unlike a standard auto, an electric bike has no metal floor, no metal roof, no left side metal panels, no right side metal panels, no front bumper with supports, no rear bumper with supports. Imagine an incoming vehicle going left of center colliding with you front and left side .

I like how all of your home furnishings aren't just 'nice' or 'high quality', they are choice items that double as an investment that could be sold in the future. For example, if I list for sale the big box store generic lamp that I have in the corner of my room I would only be able to sell it for a fraction of the price I paid for it, but if I list an old genuine Tiffany lamp for sale it could potentially get sold for more than what I paid for it when adjusted for inflation.

Ed, I disagree with your analysis on the tariff situation. First IF means just that, IF means it may happen or NOT. Two points, first Trump is the master of the art of the deal. He is using tariffs as a negotiating chip. Other countries will more than likely also agree to lower their tariffs or agree to some other agreeable settlement between parties. My two cents, just as you spent your two cents. Time will tell, it always does……..

You know what we all need? More of our future prosperity sent overseas by our government. I didn't want the house and car, or to vacation with my family and make memories. Not at the cost of funding the war in Ukraine or DEI training in Argentina. Thank God for inflation, where the government can spend my future earnings before I even have to earn them, all the while minimizing the cost of the last years of my life they took from previous inflation.

Try to take a train from Texas to Florida. It will take you up to Chicago, then east and then south. So you will need to fly, drive or take a Greyhound between these states. Also, why not have a day ferry from Texas to Florida across the Gulf of Mexico? I would drive halfway toll from Texas to Biloxi to visit my parents. Now I am in Albuquerque. Good thing mon likes to come out here. My night vision is not the best for driving and I do not want some tsa agent to fondle me before a 6 hour flight involving the sensation of falling the whole trip

I retired in 2020 after 30 years in the wholesale side of the bike industry. I loved it because my employer treated us all so well and we had great perks like getting commuter credits to ride our bikes in. Indoor bike parking, hot showers and a locker room. Even a bike shop where we could work on our bikes after hours. I didn't ride year round but several people did. Pay wasn't bad either with 401k/Roth plans along and health insurance. I consider myself lucky.

5:27 Car dependence is something that can get you into trouble talking about with people. Remember that girl who was complaining about how long it took her to get to work using public transportation? If her job was right next door or worked remotely her commute would not be an issue. There are a plethora of restrictive zoning regulation that prevents many things like grocery stores, doctor's offices, jobs, restaurants, or schools from being built close to were people live so they do not have to have a length of travel. More people would see having a personal vehicle as optional and would have more money in their pockets to better weather the inflation storm. Not to mention that the highways would be less congested so operators of semi trailers can make better travel time and be more on time with their deliveries. But what do I know.? I'm just some guy in a youtube comment section

It's by Design. But that's but that's the reason Lee's restaurants and stores are going to have to close. When minimum wage workers can't get to work who's going to do the job? I'm not driving an hour + away just to make 8.75$ -14.00$ an hour!

Americans love private transportation and absolutely hate public transportation - except for other people. Public transportation is unsafe and always a fiscal drain. Private transportation was cheap in the US until the gov decided to punish the drivers of ICE vehicles and promote EVs which the people reject. Companies like Ford have doubled the price of their best selling ICE vehicles to cover the losses of $80,000 on each EV and now can't sell their most popular models because of the price increases caused by the gov.

He says the middle class was an anomaly; I think he may be right. What we’ve been used to isn’t coming back, and what we’re going through now are the birth pains of some new order emerging.
