Great video! I love it that photographers are finally overcoming their fears of high ISO. I shoot at high ISO on my camera and I am comfortable shooting clients all the way up to 12800 if the need presents itself. One tip I usually give to people struggling with high ISO noise is to expose the shadows (and the overall image) reasonably. Noise mainly occurs in the shadowy areas and leaving the shadowy areas underexposed may create a disturbing amount of noise at high ISO. I find that on my camera, I can torture the shadows (leave them underexposed) till about ISO 3200 before I have to start attempting to expose them properly. Keep up the great work buddy!

Hi, I love your work I often like to study the camera settings you use and the available light. Would be helpful to me (and maybe others) if you left the settings up on the screen for an extra 2 second; long enough to freeze the video for study. Thanks.

Txs finally for these good videos about dance photography. I still struggle with how and were to focus when a dancer makes a jump. Do you also have a video about that theme.

I love your videos. You really have a style true to yourself. Fantastic photos! When I don't have enough light with is often I use 2 Profoto B1. Can't live without them. Lately I had to do a portrait session of a chef and had to travel light. Only a camera and two lenses and a foldable reflective screen I also used bake paper to lessen the flourecsent light. I like to shoot by a window if I have no flash though I think some reflective material is nessecary to not get to dark eyes.

I learn a tremendous amount from your videos. Now I finally know what to use my wide angle lens for. Can you tell me what tripod you use to get the camera, so low to the ground?

It's better to crank up the ISO than lower shutter speed, thing is some cameras have limitations, like D3100 i have, any photo that goes over 800 ISO have too much noise.
@nureinpiks84235 жыл бұрын
Today everyone is excited by the capabilities of present cameras and their high-tech sensors. Companies advertise for the low-noise quality in high ISO areas. So why not make use of those state-of-the-art functions and push ISO to higher levels? That seems to be exactly what fotographers have always been waiting for! Thanks for that important topic! Use higher ISO, if it promotes your creativity and brings the overall results, you have in mind. Thank you for your great work and those inspirational videos and fotographs!!! Greatings from Essen, germany ;)

maestro , i have the Light Storm LS-mini 20 with barn doors, can i use this type of lamps to freeze motion? Best regards from Norway
@Hkvisuals5 жыл бұрын
Not really, if you use continuous lights you will have to rely on your shutter speed to freeze motion...

I get too much noise at any ISO above 3200 (old camera), so my options are somewhat limited. Fortunately, most of the subjects that I photograph either don't move or move slowly.
@Hkvisuals6 жыл бұрын
Of course, it depends on your camera's capabilities... Most recent models handle noise pretty well and it's getting better each year! ;)

¿What I do in low light? Look for some lightsource. Lamplights give us more light tan I first expected. no, actually, when in low light what first I do is to cry, trying nobody can seeme do it. After, look for some lamp light or something. To work with very open f. I think my style is with fuzzy backgrounds. I prefer defocused backgrounds tan to fight with 1000 images plenty of noise…
