Quite a few comments about being a sales pitch and yes several brands are being promoted. However... and a big however... if you swap his brand names for something else (there are plenty of them from Westcott, ProFoto, Sony etc etc etc) and instead focus on the product type eg "beauty dish with grid" or "deep parabolic softbox" -"battery powered 600w strobe", 85mm lens, 200W strobe outside window etc you'll find some pretty amazing and honest insights here. Also, having watched several of Tommy's videos I believe that he is genuine in the fidelity of these brands, and if sponsorship means he can carry on with his content then brilliant. It's refreshing to see him shoot on modifiers that cost less than £100 with a camera that you can pick up 2nd hand for £800. Thanks Tommy! Nice change to several of the high profile, teaching photographers are pushing links to £350 beauty dishes, £1,000 soft boxes, £1,500 lights and £4,000 cameras! They may be awesome products and the R5 is wow as are the ProFoto's but it's equally valid to see more affordable price points being used to produce professional images. Also, finally, remember this is behind the scenes, so I came here to see the nuts and bolts used in the beautiful main shoot. Disclaimer I am not being paid for this comment. I have no connection with Tommy nor any of his associates. Before these videos I had never seen or heard of him - he may just be some virtual avatar for all I know. seems real though. There are no affiliate links to follow :-)

Hi Tommy great insights thanks - what was the power setting on the Citi 600 Pro - could have you frozen movement with a Citi 300 Pro or the Citi 400 Pro? thanks

Good work, Tommy. May I ask a question: At which shutter speed are you shooting the ballet dancer while in movement? I only can use my light (studio flash) with 1/125. Is it important to have a High Speed Studio Light? Would help a lot since I am going to shoot a befriended ballet dancer next weeks. Bye and keep up your work.

great video Tommy, really inspiring and has got me excited for a ballet shoot I have coming up soon. Can I ask how you found your location? Did you go though an agency? When you're normally shooting on location, how do you find them and do you always seek permission from the land owner? Seems it can be a bit of a mine field trying to figure out logistics for planning a shoot at times. One other question what bag do you use to carry your lighting kit in? Sorry for all the questions but your video has got me inspired again :)Keep up the great photos and content!
@TommyReynolds896 жыл бұрын
Heya Gareth :) Thanks for your comment! That's awesome you've got a ballet shoot coming up yourself. Of course, for this location I contacted the filming officer in charge of hiring the venue directly hire the website of the Historical Dockyard. Going through agencies can be expensive but worth an ask. If you can find the location and try to go via the owner instead of the agency then you'll likely get it cheaper. Always seek permission though. If its a big shoot you cant afford to get kicked out and loose time, money and talent. I carry my gear in that Think Tank International V3 bag :) Looking forward to seeing your ballet shoot. tag me!

Would have been nice to hear more about the shoot and less sales pitching. I know that everyone does it, but an 11 minute video where like 8-9 minutes of it is you pushing products and sponsorships seems pretty misleading.
