Thank you for being honest, and not stealing people money. Your business should grow and prosper. God rewards people for doing the right thing. People who cheat and scam, will either go out of business within a few years, or will constantly be in court with law suits. Which will still end your business in bankruptcy.

Eric, another great video! I have watched quite a few of your videos and I am now gaining some confidence to try to repair my own roof. I paid a so called professional roofer $3000 to do 1/5 of my roof and asked if he could get rid of the ponding water and leaks. After 3 days of showing up at 1pm in the afternoon, he said the job was all done. Then, the first rain we got after his work was done, we had more water leaks inside our home than before he did any work at all. One of the new leaks was right in the middle of our bed. Another leak ran down the electrical conduit and blew out our thermostat and control for the swamp cooler. I asked him to come back and fix all the new leaks as well as the original ones. He never came back and I never saw him again. And the water was still ponding in the original areas. I felt like I just burned 3000 dollars for nothing. So, this time....I'm doing my research and talking with roof suppliers so that I can do the work myself with a helper. We will take our time and do it right. I appreciate your positive attitude with your own work and your pride in doing the job right. Don't worry about haters or naysayers, they will always have their own opinion. What matters is, you can go home knowing your did your best for your customers and completed your jobs correctly. You know that old saying, if you want a job done right, then do it yourself. There is so much truth in that statement. So many people now days just do the bare minimum so they can get the money and move on to the next job, without caring how well they did their work, or how they leave the customer dis-satisfied and feeling like they got ripped off, which many people do get ripped off like myself. Thanks for all your knowledge and videos! You have a faithful fan and I'm glad to be learning so much from you and other professionals.

that's rough man.... but if he was doing it for 3 days, did you not come up to the roof at any time to check the progress?... see what's going on?

Repaired my flat roof after watching this video a little over a month ago. Had a few real hard rains and no leaks yet.

Marc Mendoza lol a whole month eh. Sorry, when I do a repair it's fixed forever. The roof needs to be replaced before my repair fails.
@marcmendoza47177 жыл бұрын
That's nice, but sorry? What's to say the repair I made won't last the life of the roof. Are you just assuming the repairs you make a far better than the one I did? I mean without knowing much else besides it's been a month.?

General Motors in Saginaw Michigan specified a 4 ply type 4 asphalt roof system with no top coat of hot asphalt and gravel ,we applied 1,700 square of 4 ply and coated the completed roof surface with 2 coats of organic emulsion and 1 ply of fiberglass mesh like your using ,we had to wait 30 days before coming back to top coat the cured emulsion with a silicone based White top coating ,we finished that roof in 1986 and it was on Saginaw steering gear ,I went back to Saginaw steering gear in 2012 to do a little 500 square 3 day job on an outbuilding , while my crew was tearing off I climbed the main roof and looked at the emulsion roof I installed 25 years earlier to take pictures for the maintaince dept, the roof was still in extremely good shape ,GM had my company resurface the White top coat every 10 years on their roof maintenance program ,emulsion and fabric make an excellent roof surface ,you can use emulsion on a wet surface because the emulsifiers are natural clay based and not man made petroleum based ,a slightly wet surface creates a better bond than a perfectly dry surface .

What Is an Asphalt Emulsion? An asphalt emulsion is liquid asphalt cement emulsified in water. It is composed of asphalt, water and an emulsifying agent. The emulsifying agent is sometimes called the surfactant, which is composed of large molecules. These soap molecules are like tadpoles, having a hydrocarbon tail soluble in liquid asphalt and an electrically charged or ionic head soluble in water. The asphalt particles are surrounded by the ionic charge, which causes the droplets to repel each other and stay suspended in the water. All asphalt emulsions are designed to eventually break, or revert to asphalt and water. Some emulsions break by chemically destabilizing the surfactant, others by a simple evaporation of the water. Still others break by a combination of chemical destabilization and evaporation. Today’s emulsion manufacturers have many new chemistries available to design the emulsion for the optimal break time and specific use.
