Totally guilty of wearing salomons, knife clipped in pocket, sometimes fanny pack. We do kind of fall into a uniform despite our best efforts. Great reminder and some great ideas! Thanks!

Great video! Boy did I learn my lesson about low visibility when traveling overseas. Tan tactical backpack and 2A shirts made me standout and ultimately lead to 2 physical alterations with Anti-American Europeans. I was also pulled aside at 2 airports to be questioned and checked.

I honestly believe that you can be low vis even with 5.11 clothing if you choose the right combination. A pair of jeans and a simple flannel shirt or a t-shirt are pretty much common almost everywhere in the world. Great video, looking forward to the next one.

Funny thing that makes you stand out is being in shape and clean cut. Girls, cops, and criminals see that and ask “you a cop?” My go to answer is fireman. Fits the build and isn’t a threat 😂. We had some seals doing surveillance with us. They have a look and stand out. Just something to be aware of. 🤙

You should check out the vertex delta stretch pants and shorts or the vertex cutback shorts. They have two extra mag pockets above your regular back pockets and you can’t see your multi tool or knife or handheld light if you put them in those mag pockets.

It may be an indicator to look for printing but I know tons of people who carry a knife and flashlight and no gun. A bigger indicator that I've seen is tightness of shirt, logos on shirt, and how they walk like they're billy badass

Seriously though, what are your thoughts on intentional attention grabbers like that? My thought is if I can draw someone’s attention somewhere I want it on a “first glance“ it lowers the likelihood of them seeing/ noticing something I don’t want them to on that first glance/ quick scan of me(eg printing/ pocket clips)… like if I see a dude with blue hair and pride flag shirt, he’s off my radar near immediately… he could be wearing Solomons and 511 pants

I'm sure it's possible to redirect that way. I wouldn't use politics to do it because we have extreme sides on all ends that will take it as a challenge. So it's not just about the look left while I go right, it's more of a forget me as soon as you saw me @@LouisCaras

Lol. I love this video. Ive been diving on lo-vis just to see how people address it, and i must say that your observations are some of the most acute ive seen. It can be very useful to observe/acknowledge stereotypes for many reasons.

Yep I agree 100% I started riding mtb in '21 and now wear mountain bike shirts from races that I have competed in with the local mtb bike club ball cap I am much less likely to be singled out as the guy with a gun Camo isnt just for the go fast stuff, that tac 2A stuff is cool but itll get you kilt in da streets If Kyle Rittenhouse wasnt carrying an AR-15 would anyone know who he is?

By no means am I encouraging not working out, but it’s noteworthy to mention that fitness can be a huge giveaway of your line of work and capabilities. Sadly, the average Joe is generally out of shape so even a semi-fit person would stand out in a crowd. I like to wear looser fitting shirts even though I’m not super jacked or anything if blending in is the goal. It’s by no means attractive to look at, but that’s kinda the goal of being low vis … not getting noticed by anyone. Bonus points because larger shirts often hang over pockets and cover pocket clips so you can just clip your knives/flashlights like normal.

on open carry: if you looked professional when doing it i doubt anyone would feel put off or question it. wear some khakis and a polo, slip on a high gloss safariland holster and mag pouches and people would probably assume youre a detective or something

Adidas SAMBAs are my go to every day shoe. Since soccer is played by so many people, wearing them just makes people think you Futbol. Ballcaps are another dead giveaway, wear some corny ass cheapo you got for free. Watches are another giveaway, Garmin TacticX guys 😎

Hey Jon, I’m assuming your preference to avoid pocket clips includes your flashlight. Mine has been noticed on a few occasions. Do you still carry a full size (18650) light? If so, do you just clip it to the Raven panel like your Leatherman? I’m trying to figure out how to deal with larger items like that flopping around in the pocket. Thanks!

I do you use a full size light. I usually put it next to my tourniquet so that they both stand up straight and next to each other

It should also be noted if you want a new gun for free all you need is a rock. Just walk through any parking lot and all the trucks with guns inside are clearly marked by their owners

I went with a few. Honestly anything that fits your foot correctly will work. If you need a trail running shoe just look at that style first.

I like New Balance or Sketchers. Completely average Joe shoe that’s comfortable to run errands in all day and I can run in them if I have to.

I'm in a no-vis environment but I'm still able to keep my knife and light on me. I keep a SIG mug on my desk. I don't mind if the people in the know...know. it's actually a connection starter. This is the way i look at it. I used to wear Vans growing up. Then i realized i dont even skate? So i started dressing and representing my lifestyle. Outdoors and shooting and tactical shit.
