I have a water softener. Noticed only outside of house water pressure dropped 70% when trying to wash truck. Called utility company, no know issues. Asked neighbors, no issues. Researched online, bypassed softener, pressure came back immediately. Researched more, bought resin cleaner, which I’ll run a few cleaning cycles with once delivered. Hopefully fixes the issue. My water softener is about 9yrs old. Thanks!

Thank you so much sir for taking the time to make this video! Turned off the water softener and pressure went back up.

I'm curious why bypassing doesn't work? I'm having the exact same issue with pressure issues. If I test the water before the water softener, great pressure. Past the softener, terrible. If I do the bypass, still terrible pressure. The bypass should work!

Based on your explanation, I don't think resin is the root cause. More likely to be a partially clogged valve or filter head.

you have an issue with your bypass IMO there should be no flow thru the resin when bypassed , Chlorine kills resin and size ( clogs tank intake screen ) I would test your incoming water and if the chlorine is high use a chlorine removing prefilter to extend the resin life

I would probably clean the water softener with some soap and water
