I purchased the Powder 500 bag after considering Shimoda and F-stop. It seemed to have more function and features I was looking for than either of the others at 1/2 the cost. The features and the quality are fine for me. My only complaints are due to my use of a large DSLR and older glass. The camera module is quite cramped with 1 camera body, 28-70 2.8, 80-200 2.8 and a 18-35 f4 with some odds and ends. Further, with that kit the pack is quite heavy, even without a tripod attached. I wish the straps had a little more padding and the buckles more secure. I tend to re-tighten everything regularly. I would advise that it is a great pack for a mirrorless kit and some extra clothes, head torch, food, etc.With a DSLR kit the module is packed, and the straps can get uncomfortable after hours of hiking. However, the features of this pack are still admirable and I haven't changed to something else after 2 years.

Nice review3 Chris. Looks like it works well for photography & hiking. At 2.4kg plus camera equipment plus clothing I guess it will way a fair bit - thats where I struggle these days - I enjoy taking lots of gear but not the weight of it.

Thanks Alan I'm the same in wanting to take loads of gear, it's always good to have a good choice of lenses when on location. I'm trying to loose some body poundage to offset the gear weight 😆 🤣

I’ve got this bag and it really is a very good and well made bag, I’ve wanted something that I could take out that will carry all the gear for a wild camp and a full camera setup, mine been a pro Nikon DSLR and 3 lenses, batteries filters, tripod etc.

Can you carry a lightweight camping tent and backpacking gear (food, clothing, and bedding) for an overnight backcountry camping trip in it?

Hi Chris enjoyed review. just one question does the top section go the full length of the bag. For example behind the camera compartment. Regards
@ChrisPattonPhotography2 жыл бұрын
Hi it does go all the way down, if you remove the camera insert. The camera insert is the full depth of the bag, so when it's in there's no room behind the camera insert. Hope that helps 👍

Hi Chris. Thanks that's a great help as the item I need to fit behind the camera insert it's just the 15mm tubes from my shoulder rig. Would be 80mm if shoulder pad left on. Regards
