First multi day whitewater canoe trip,
and what a trip it was running rapids, backcountry camping, swamping the canoe, paddling threw heavy rain, and my first flipped canoe.
will definitely be going back hopefully with higher water less dodging rocks and more crashing big waves

I still laugh when I think about going to the maitland river from your video keep paddling keep paddling that was epic. I’m probably to late to run that one this year most likely be dried up now.

@@JayhooOutdoors It has not been raining much at all, so there isn't enough water in any of the rivers except perhaps the Saugeen.

Adds weight but makes life so much easier. I was using the smaller 250lbs aluminum ones they were great but then one time in the winter one snapped on me probably brittle from the cold so I picked up the large 500lbs ones.

I started at Island Rapids, good to see there are some nice rapids above that as well to make a whole weekend out of it. I think I swam one or two rapids after rifle shoot. You handled it no problem.

After Palmer rapids it’s a long flat section the real fun starts at island down and the first 1 km .

Looks like you had some fun! Water level was very low compared to last year when I did that same stretch. What's the name of the rapid where you had your second wipe-out?

I definitely want to go when the water is up, want the big wave train on the rifle chute, We flipped at the end of Palmer rapids. Then we got swamped like crazy on the ledge right after the split rock. I couldn’t believe it didn’t flip us there 🤣😂🤣😂

I know there are outfitters that shuttle and rent equipment and schools. Not sure if there are any guided trips though. It would be a good idea not all that safe the way we went with no one to rescue 🛟 us or chase our gear.

We used this book to guide us it was great. store.algonquinpark.on.ca/cgi/algonquinpark/00027.html And the river is drop pool it’s like paddling a lake right up to the rapids which is nice for a first time down you aren’t being pulled into a rapid unknowingly. You hear it coming and can pull over and scout it out quite easily 👍 I was worried I may accidentally get liked into a riffle chute or something but not a chance the water is still till the last few feet going into the drop. That was at 30.60 Cubic metres per second. Maybe at really high water it would be different

The weekend before the august long weekend. I believe it was July 27th got lucky I think the water the day before when we just played at the Palmer rapids the water was only running half of what it was when we started the trip. Got to see if I have the flow rate written down somewhere
