Alright Master Breath Fitness, you’ve got my attention! I’m a man who has stuttered his whole life, and have only relatively recently discovered that BREATH is the key to stabilizing it. I’ve recently left my stable, if not dangerous and heartbreaking, career in the wind industry so i might begin a life of true service, sharing the power of the breath with all who will listen! Combine this with the fact that cold tubs are changing my life, and Rickson Gracie’s book is actively cutting new grooves in my mind and opening my heart....The world of breath, look out, you’ve got a new student!

Wow I’m impressed . A lot . I rarely if ever comment on peoples videos , but this is skills . I take ice baths everyday once in the morning and once at night before bed . I one ice bath before bed to lower my heart rate and lower my body temperature for a restful night sleep . Awesome job . I use my ice freezer for my ice baths one thing I’ve been doing the past year is I have 3 circulating pumps inside which makes the water move a lot . I realized after awhile it was becoming easy for me even in the coldest I could get my water . The coldest dip I ever been in was after hiking Mt. Washington for 9 hours in the winter and jumping in that river that was moving that’s when I knew I needed to add moving water to my baths . Much respect ! Great tips . I subscribed . Keep making videos

This is one of my favorite messages I’ve ever gotten. That’s awesome that you do it before sleep. A lot of people don’t know how great it is for that. Good luck on your Wim Hof journey. Stay in touch.

Yeah, Wim Hoff will definitely lower your heart rate! I can go from normal heart rate which is about 85 bpm to about 59 bpm! It definitely works! Ice baths are really good for you too!

There is a neat effect here, where the iPhone he is recording with naturally adjusts its sound sensitivity (much like it does with light). And so as he calms down and starts making less noise, the background noise is given more and more volume. This is pretty damn representative of of how it actually feels to go from shock to relaxation, and how your environment becomes more of a focus than yourself... Or maybe some editing mastermind created this effect themselves. Either way - good video!

Awesome video and great ambassador to Wim Hof & Rickson Gracie. Epic collab with Geekclimber too. I first heard of this when I use to roll at a Carlson Gracie, Jr facility in San Marcos,CA when I was training MMA fighter as well as a single dad of 9 year old daughter. The Gracie family technique greatly contributed to my breathing control, then and now. As I suffer a lot more frequent lung issues (aggravated asthma from petroleum fires in Kuwait-Desert Shield Storm) breathing control is so important. I’ve gotten better with it, but it’s quite evident I need a lot of work. I was actually using my SpO2 monitor today while climbing and combination of both techniques increased my uptake of oxygen and lower heart rate. I couldn’t fall below 71 bcoz i was still someone moving around, but like you, when sitting still (not in ice though) I have reached 41-45 (intermittent fast days). One of the cool things about this monitor is quickly oxygen is depleted and pulled in. On a max climb, I was near 92%, which is not good, but controlled breathing kept asthma minimized and quicker recovery. Onto some more your videos. I don’t be as long on those-hopefully. 😆

Are you still doing BJJ?
@jonkrause67142 жыл бұрын
@@BreathFitness No, unfortunately I stopped to pursue climbing. My daughter and I bonded more in climbing and continue climbing together now she is 21. Best appreciated the breathing and mental skill set of BJJ that really helped in dealing with post combat and life issues.

I'm no way as fit as you, but, after doing the Wim hof method on and off for about a 3 years this year being more focused on cold showers and breath work. My resting heart rate at its lowest fell to 39bpm which shocked the hell out of me, i immediately put it down to the wim hof method.

This is so impressive!!!! My morning resting hart rate is 44. During the day takes me at least 30min of breath work, to lower my hart rate to 44. Sometimes far longer. if anybody can share any tip, how to get there faster, I will truly appreciate it!!! ❤️❤️❤️ such a powerful technique to calm yourself down
@BreathFitness Жыл бұрын
Our resting heart rate seems to increase during the day. You might not need to decrease it, but if you do, you could use the mammalian dive reflex mechanism and splash some cold water on your face just before your HR lowering breath. Let me know if that works.
@BigVlad357 Жыл бұрын
Updating on breath work. I tried Mammalian technique, and it definitely speeds up the process! What is really interesting, right now if I do just 1 minute of breath work, instead of 30 and i just sit down and relax. Measure my HR, and it’s around 45 per minute. After just 1 minute of breath work, instead of 30 I used to do. By the way, breath work I use, very strong exhalations. Very similar do Rickson Gracie style

i'm in the 3rd week of the 10 weeks Wim Hoff method and all i can say is that i'm already blown away. I do that every day as well as a kettlebell workout to feel better & stronger for Jiu Jitsu. That being said i get extemely exhausted in sparring quickly. Even though i remain very calm and composed, grappling will always take a lot out of you. Usually that's the moment i stopped being the aggressor and the tables turn. Any insight on how to better recover from one round of sparring to the next? effectively slow down the heart? I'm by far not the most athletic guy in the room and i'm preparing myself to compete ahead of time, so that would save me....i laso like to say that i love your channel. Oss
@BreathFitness2 жыл бұрын
So forceful exhales during the round to drop CO2 quickly and maintain strength. On the break, a few Wim Hof breaths then short inhales and long exhales will help get your heart rate down. Stay ahead of your breathing. Breath more than you need earlier so you don't get behind. Good luck on your BJJ journey. Grab a private zoom lesson if you want more details. www.breath.fitness/book Boa!

Doesn’t hyperventilating cause heart rate to rise? So what’s bringing your heart rate down is the cold causing vasoconstriction so the heart isn’t working as hard.
@BreathFitness2 жыл бұрын
The hyperventilation first is so that you can breathe slower for longer to get your heart rate down quicker without air hunger.

That’s a tough one. My friend with the hood hair is 6’6. He fits in the 100 with bent knees. You might also consider the 2x2x4 mental trough. All of these tubs are cheapest at tracker or feed stores or farm stores. That way you could hop in before you buy. instagram.com/p/CO17NfTpX5x/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

So I need to 1st: take long breath in and let it go out by itself without forcing it And second: take a 80% breath in and let it out slowly as possible is that right?
@BreathFitness Жыл бұрын
Very close. 1st full breaths in really engaging the intercostal muscles for warmth. 2nd full short breaths in then the longest exhale you can do that is only if you want to get your heart rate down, it's not really necessary. You could also just breathe light, embrace, and surrender.

After cold showers or ice bath I feel awesome for about an hour then I'm so sleepy I can't do anything but nap. I have been doing a cold shower every morning then again at night. I want the morning one to wake me up for the day. I do the breathing and still the same. Am I doing something wrong

Its normal, thats just relaxation setting in. You can just ignore the feeling or take a quick 15 minute power nap.

What about hypothermia caused by ice bath...???
@BreathFitness2 жыл бұрын
Hypothermia is something to consider. I believe in most cases it takes more than 20 minutes. With the right breathwork, you can push it out much longer.
