Lowering a Mk1 Golf on $55 coilovers

I had a 78 VW Rabbit years ago that I ran on the track and autocrossed (slalom) at times. My car cornered like it was on rails. I lowered mine approx 1" with Tokico adj shocks and coilovers. I replaced all the bushings with polyurethane. I had a 13mm sway bar front and a 22mm adj rear. I replaced the transmission with an 83 GTI for the ratios and a short shift linkage. Installed a front strut bar.. GTI brakes. Hurst shifter. VDO gauges. 6x13 wheels and 205x60-13 tires. 1 degree neg camber and 3/32 toe out.. Recaro sport seat. I replaced the 1500 engine with a 1715 cc block and a GTI head and sport cam. The radiator was a kit from Auto Tech at the time . It was from a 16v Scirroco. I bought a baffled oil pan and added an oil cooler from a Mazda RX7. The car never let me down and was dead reliable.

My dad had the same car VW Golf mark 1 model 1978 DIESEL in white with the small lights in the back. Those bumpers were still in chrome. I miss that car so much, my first car ever driven I should have kept it. Those new Belgian license plates look amazing on it.

I think it sat finde before. I would be happy with Bilstein dampers since they are great compared to all affordable coilovers. Especially since I am still on OEM dampers with H&R springs.

nooit begrepen verlagen van een auto, alle comfort is maar dan ook totaal verdwenen en het staat bijna altijd lelijk.......verder ziet zo,n auto er gelijk afgetrapt af daalt enorm in waarde omdat vooral de oudere auto,s alle originaliteit hebben verloren...
