Thank you thank you to you folks for posting this. Life long fan of Al Hirt and there really has been so little information about him. One of the greatest all around trumpeters of all time and except for the generation that existed when he was recording, he has been largely forgotten. Hopefully many others can find this and get to know the guy a bit. Glad a lot of clips of him playing from the Ed Sullivan show have found their way to You tube as well!

I was 16 years old when at first heard of Al. I am a Guatemalan 76 lady now, and I am so excited that today Jan 17, 2023 I heard again about the great Art. Love.

I am thrilled to see this interview. He seems a far different personality than Pete Fountain, but we'd give anything to see them together again. God Bless you, and U Tube!

No wonder he sounds like such a natural...6 years old performing already!

Wow, thank you for posting this (archive) recording. To hear some insight and history from such a legend, this is priceless. What an amazing man and life he had.

I said it before and I'll say it again - When Jumbo got to heaven, Gabriel had to move to second chair.
