This year's Bruins are a freakin enigma. Absolutely AHL caliber in all situations on the ice, yet retaining a playoff spot. And nobody can explain why the stats, the analytics and the eye test don't support the record they have. Personally I think it's because the Atlantic isn't as dominant as everyone says, it's just that the schedule somehow has bad teams playing a lot of worse teams this year. I blame Barry Trotz for trying to build a super team, and the Panthers for bullying their way to the Cup, both for intimidating the rest of the league into taking dumb risks in the off-season. Now everyone is just beat up and confused.

I kept thinking the same thing. Where is our 8 million dollar goaltender? I can't say he allowed any bad goals, but where are extra saves expected of an 8 mill. goalie? The Bruins scored 4 goals, that should be more than enough for a win. I was a huge Swayman supporter, until the hold out. I can only hope he becomes the goaltender he thinks he is because this team will be in a world of hurt in the coming years.

I used to watch swayman let in 1 goal and then he would just buckle down and make unreal saves. This season he looks slow to get in position, rarely makes unbelievable saves,lets up easy ones, and nearly never steals a game. Not exactly the showing you want to see after that payday

new PP strategy: just roll the 4th line an have them play straight up. then sub in the 3rd line and repeat. just play identity hockey; dump and chase, win the board battles, center the puck, and when they go low to high have McAvoy/Z and Lohrei/Peeke on the blue line to hammer the puck on net. if nothing else maybe it'll send a message.

even if this team makes the playoffs -- somehow -- they will get swept. there are only two teams in the entire league that have scored less than the Bs, and those teams have some games in hand. the goalie is mediocre, the D won't hit anyone, their PP and PK suck. they are big and soft. if you look this bad in the lackadaisical regular season, what's gonna happen when they run into a team that wants to win ? yeah, they've got " deep cup run " written all over them.

With empirical evidence, I believe it's no longer a theory that the entire coaching staff needs to go and the entire philosophy needs to change. The more you think about, the more insane one becomes when thinking we tried to build this team on the opposite of scoring and speed, when the entire NHL philosophy has changed to scoring and speed years ago. This stretch of games has been like the Chinese water drop torture, where you are tied to a chair and water drops are dropped on your head until you die.

Yeah something happened there. I think it’s a mixture between his concussions as well. He’s been injured a lot. Certainly doesn’t wanna go in any corner, he’s gotta be the softest guy I’ve ever seen for his height and size. I mean he doesn’t do anything. He doesn’t even score anymore. I will say this... it may be copium, but in all 4 playoff series between these two teams, the Leafs have been the road team. Each time, it goes to 7... and each time, the Leafs lose in TD Garden. We know how the story plays out when the Bruins enter the series with home ice. We have not seen how this story plays out if the Leafs have home ice against the Bruins. Just saying... there's a part of me that's curious to see what would happen.

I don’t know what to say about this defense it’s totally atrocious. Oesterle should be in AHL, he’s just so bad, lohrei is so inconsistent and should be in the AHL as well. Carlo has fallen of a cliff and is a mess… McAvoy looks a shell of his former self.. zadarov is just so trash. Like you don’t have a consistent d man. It’s a serious issue. Scoring is a bad problem but you have defenseman who don’t know how to play defense.

I know in the beginning people were saying “Swayman wasn’t at training camp and he just needs to get his rhythm back”. Well, it’s been 41 games. Can’t use that excuse no more. He had 1 great year and now we see he’s just a mediocre goaltender. What a waste of money.

We did hear that he'll be there as he is working out at a local college. Perhaps, that was a lie? And what did he expect the results to be if he was dogging it anyway? Last year we heard that MacAvoy was hurt. Then that was squashed. We then heard that he needed the right defensive partner to allow him to play his $9.5M game. Alright then, let's invest more in the defense at the expense of an offense that requires a quality forward. It appears that the Bruins have been built around two players (#1 & #73) that are not what we thought. And they are taxing on the ice and the books. IMO, the big question moving ahead is: How long will the experiment go on for? Many fantasy league players dumped Swayman early on. Would you have either one on yours? How about a video game league? Would you keep them around at their rate (which restricts what else you can add) or make a deal? And the analysts claiming there there are no deals to be made..limited thinkers. All I see is possibilities. 🤔
