Great to see another video! My K95 arrived a couple of weeks ago but I haven't had time to really do much with it yet. One real frustration for me is how fast it gets hot. I'm used to being able to shoot more shots in less time and not worry about shifting my group or burning out my very expensive barrel. Just have to be more patient here.

To make a wind call take your earplugs out and turn your face to the direction of the wind, belive me you will know when you are looking direct into the wind. Sound in your ears also changes. That is a sailing method. Vikings were tough sailors and their descendants still are, so I tried.
@THLR8 ай бұрын
I am familiar with that method. It doesn't work in mild winds with physical exertion as the heat and sweat radiating off your skin drowns minor sensory input. It works well on the range though, used it for many years - equal pressure both sides bridge of nose.

hello thomas. the k95 seems to be a very good weapon. does an R8 have advantages over a k95? or put in another way why buy an r8 when a k95 does what an r8 does? the k95 seems much more manageable and easy to use. And the k95 stutten baronesse 🤤 🤤
@THLR Жыл бұрын
Well, the R8 is far more available and you can get it secondhand much cheaper than the K95. And there is no discussion - a repeater is more versatile than a singleshot. However, for me it has become a matter of weight (and age!) as the photo equipment makes it harder to get up the mountains. (I just got off the internet spending a silly amount of money to reduce the total weight 3 kgs...) Since I hunt the way I do (camera first), I personally have no drawbacks with the K95. I expected to, but I don't - it shoots just as good as my R8 and I carry noticeably less weight. Stutzen baronesse??? It is a beautiful rifle, but a complete waste in the hands of a monkey like me :D. But I would like to own a really nice rifle, I just don't like the pricetag...

What brand of scope are you using? And what model?
@THLR2 жыл бұрын
Kahles HELIA 3.5-18x50i. It is the only scope in their hunting range of interest to me. The magnification range is "perfect". If you look at episode 357 I really wouldn't want less than 16-18x magnification or 50mm objective. I want the higher magnification to properly see my animal and correctly identify/see all the twigs etc. And with high magnification/low light/shadows in the forest, anything less than 50mm objective a bit "unpleasant to" work with. This isn't really something that is solved with thermal clip-ons (which is many people's argument against big objectives). I'm perfectly happy with that scope. The BDC solution is a bit odd, but it works and I prefer it over their new solution.

Thomas noticed such a fact when the wind on the left lowers the bullet and when it rises on the right or is it just me?🙂
@THLR2 жыл бұрын
That is a phenomena I have quantified it in the Hybrid reticle (hold marks are offset by an average delection value based on Hornady 4 DOF calculator). I don't really see any practical effect from it.
@caveman-g1n2 жыл бұрын
@@THLR please tell me if you shoot without angular compensation 500 meters up, for example, a bullet will fly lower? and if down the bullet should fly higher?
@THLR2 жыл бұрын
@@caveman-g1n that will be illustrated next episode. Most lasers now show range corrected for angle (like my Leica) or both range and the range correctedbfor angle (like my Swarovski). You simply dial corrected range and shoot, the error will mainly be in your position. In theory, dialing range without correcting for angle (if you use an old laser) will put the shot high regardless of shooting up or down - gravity works over a shorter distance, so always less. If you're only shooting 2-300m with no measuring tools, simply aim at the bottom of where you want to hit as the bullet strikes just above the crosshair. When you measure a corrected range and dial for that, compound error between position and aiming tends to put the shot a little low. More on this next episode.
@THLR2 жыл бұрын
@@caveman-g1n shorter answer: No it will hit higher. Tie a 50 cm piece of string to your table to illustrate those 500 meters. Pull it parallell to the floor and put a glass on the floor directly underneath the end of the string, it should be 50 cm from the table. Pull the string up or down to a sharp angle, you will see that your hand holding the string is closer to the table than the glass. That's why you always dial/aim for a shorter range with an angled shot, less "horisontal/gravity range" although the flight/lenght of the string remains the same.

You cannot measure anything! Correct.
@THLR2 жыл бұрын
I believe that is the greatest limitation of SFP scopes, everything becomes "target relative" and with increasing range and increasing winds you simply run out of error margin. Instead of doing a proper windcall and measuring that windcall via FFP reticle holdoff, you and up holding so-so and introduce more error and you basically rely on target size to swallow that error.
@mrln2472 жыл бұрын
@@THLR You have got sensible controls here though limited range and high BC only, with very simple reticle so not really tempted to try measure anything. FFP is always better for precision, have made SFP work by just choosing the magnification and taping it there turning it into fixed mag. Not enough fixed mag scopes with adjustable parallax, but that's another discussion.
