Sure do brother. A dab of Permarex at the front and rear cover joints. Looking good brother. Tonight I finally get to drop in my pistons and connecting rods into my block. Tomorrow more I roll out to this towing buisness. They are parting out a 09'Yukon. I am pulling the complete engine and trands harness. Also the tach module for the pedal and the harness for that. I just don't need the pedal. The pedal bends and mine is straight so I have to use a Corvette or Cadillac gas pedal. I am going to depin the harness and make it a stand alone harness. Engine harness,Ecu and pedal harness with tach module $200. The guy said make me a offer. I said how $200 sound. An hour later. He said deal. I said I'll see you Thursday morning. Lol.

Nice job guys. I’m building my first LS 6.0 myself. I understand the draw to these engines and how they make good power. But I just don’t see the quality like in a small block ford. 🤷🏻‍♂️ perfect example is everything needs to stay loose till everything is lined up! They could have done that better. Also hate all the metric bolts 😆😆😆 but will see what all the hype is about I guess. But they ain’t as “cheap” to swap like everyone says! At this point I could have built my 393 Windsor. Only thing is 351’s around here are harder and harder to find plus junk yards are still asking $1000 or more and they have 200,000 miles on em and you have a tired 200HP engine that needs roughly $2000 aftermarket heads just to match the LS. I don’t have the wallet for a coyote and for sure ain’t doing no 4.6/5.4🤦🏻‍♂️ but will see. I can get 4.8/5.3/6.0’s all day for $250. Still destroying me I’m building a LS but at this point I just want to drive it again and have fun. Who cares if you have a smile on your face and having fun right?

There is a piece to your old it looks like a dumbbell. If it has the plastic one in it you need to get rid of that and get the aluminum one and put in there before you put the whole engine together.
@notacruiser713
@notacruiser713 6 ай бұрын
It has to do with your oil, the plastic one will let your old bypass your old filter so if you have any metal shavings in your oil, it will shoot it back into the engine instead of putting it into the filter

I also went ahead and ordered a set of lifters. I noticed on the old ones that there were a few of the rollers I could see that a pitting in the rollers. I said man screw that lol. I had pulled them down and cleaned them. Grrrrr. That's how it goes tho lol. I am going to use the oil pump that came out of the Ly6 6 oh. I opened it and you can still see the machining marks and no wear or scratches so I'm sending it. The VVt or DOD cams are high pressure or volume. Shit or both lol.

Lots of little details specific to the LS. Please show how you prime it with the starter like you're speaking of. I will have to try it myself. Talking about gaskets... my cousin was telling me how a friend of his would use some cheap brush on paint from the hardware store instead of gaskets when racing at the drag strip. He apparently had good luck doing it over and over again lol. Sometimes you can put too much effort and care into something and the universe slaps it's knees and laughs thinking how it's going to pull the greatest joke on you.
