Now I understand the logic in the following expressions; Italian language has something similar. السَّاعَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ إِلَّا ثُلُثَا. Twenty minutes to two. 01:40 Literal translation would be: 2 o'clock "minus"/subtract 1/3 (one third of an hour) السَّاعَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ إِلَّا رُبْعًا. Quarter to* two. 01:45 Sono le due (ore) meno quattro (d'un ora). Literally: it is 2 - 1/4. السَّاعَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ إلا عَشْرَ دَقَائِقَ Ten minutes to two. 01:50 Sono le due (ore) meno dieci (minuti). It is 2 o'clock ➖ 10 minutes. إلا like in: لا له إلا .....؟

The noun after numbers 3 to 10 must be plural, and the noun after the numbers 11 to 99 must be singular in accusative case.

Honestly....this way of reading the time is rather unexpected. Thank you for this detailed ...calm voice presentation. The structure is so unexpected! Hour (is) one (o'clock) and five and thirty minutes. Uh! 01:35 01:15 would be: Hour (is) one and a quarter (of an hour). Hm..a quarter past one o'clock. Fine. But...! Hour (is) one and a third (of an hour) A third? Unexpected. So...01:20 Question? If we spoke in a way: 01:50 o'clock Would it be understood as intended, that is: Hours (will be) two (o'clock) in ten minutes.

😱 there is no such thing as EASY in Arabic! 😅 But...here you presented clearly..step by step....the "logic"...the way to "string" words..their order...when telling time. And the syntax defies my habits ...the way I think in Croatian, English, Italian.. Each time when something in Arabic leaves me stunned, I "comfort' myself: Well..native speakers of Arabic probably feel the same when learning English....things may seem up side down ...

@@MyArabicJourneyWithMohammed of course, I had to 😬 check that moment 04:05 So it is: الساعة الواحدة والثلث In Arabic: that is: The hour is one and a third (of AN HOUR, which is twenty minutes) And in English simply: One past twenty (minutes) NOT A third of an hour. I am still grappling with this video.😅 However the voice is almost hypnotic 😬 so all is well 😅

0:47 Good morning to my little grey cells! (That is: brain) I finally😳 realized why each word for NUMBER ..when speaking about telling the time...ends in Taa marbutah ة Because word it refers to is feminine الساعة This is what we here call: to invent warm water When a person finally learns something that others already know 😅 Teacher...you have repeated so many times that adjectives and numbers..(even pronouns?!) align with NOUN in gender.. and despite all that ..it finally dawned on me here Well. .better ever than never

I have something to do (around here), but after having it completed ....I will finally write three columns Numbers Hours Day (Or maybe in rows ..because otherwise English and Arabic words will mis-match as usual ?)
