Diverts the oil into the oil filter, without it the oil would just bypass the filter

I let let my RTV cures for 24 hours or more, before fill the tank with oil and start up the engine again. By doing this way, the sealant is harden and the oil pressure won’t be able to push the sealant out.

The key to doing that rear cover properly is to loosen the oil pan and let it hang down. You install the cover with either that tool or with the new cover and when its centered on the crank you tighten the cover bolts and then the oil pan. As you said this is one of those jobs you just never want to do again.

Nobody does it that way, I showed in the video with the old cover how to set it with the tool. The lower bolts set the dept for how it needs to sit. Loosening the oil pan only breaks the seal where you needed to RTV the corners and will cause even more issues later on.

Nice job on that oil seal! I hate oil leaks any my TJ is leaking from the front seal (I beleive) of the NV3500 tranny. You make it look easy working under a TJ. And I know it's not! Good Luck!

If you have a smoke machine for evap systems, smoke test it to make sure you have no leaks.

Yeah not sure why they couldn’t machine from each end of the block and leave the middle intact and then you wouldn’t have to worry

I ordered the Dorman one came with the up and lower half’s ,also got spark plugs , pcv valve was told to add new oil pressure switch as well Can you thin of anything else I may need ? Thanks
