The competition is a challenge of your spotting, patience and communications skills. The bet is “your rig.” I can understand people not wanting to make that bet.
@fabr57479 ай бұрын
It's an event that they use (smartly) to bring communities together and gain subscribers. Every youtuber will show its own competition, and the partners will show each other a lot. So there is an aspect that isn't mentioned in your bet, its the new relationship built in this event, and the game of subscribers, i.e. income. Yes, it's a fair decision to not participate, and everyone has to accept that. But it's also a fair business model. There is potential gains offered. So it's a calculated decision to be made. But also, if you look at the youtuber selected as drivers, if my memory is correct, those are people that are level headed, that understand mechanics, and that will respect each other's equipment. And then, we don't know the fine prints... Is there a form of insurance for the event? Are those rigs insured? I would be surprised if it was a "f you" if you lose it. But it could be.

Some tips with using that new machine of yours. I am an excavator operator out here in Colorado. When digging you want to make sure that you're scraping the dirt and rock with the teeth and not the back of the bucket. What works for me is I take the dirt down in layers. If the dirt is hard to dig in I'll keep scratching layers until I get enough loose dirt to get a full bucket, then I'll scoop the dirt out. In addition to digging with the teeth is you won't be wearing out the bucket itself. Since the teeth are the wear items. That also means you won't have to weld crisscross beads all over the bucket to keep it from wearing out. When the teeth wear out don't throw them away, you can weld some AR plates to the tips of them and reuse the teeth. That way you're only buying a second set of teeth and not tens or hundreds of teeth (depending on how much you use the machine).

Actually, when they looked at the numbers it wasn't great for them. Casey LaDelle (one of the judges last time) did a video talking about it. Since there was an embargo on the participants to wait a week before posting videos, everyone on KZbin watched videos posted by the audience and were burnt out on the "Wrecker Games" by the time the official videos could be released. As a result, Casey LaDelle and other participants had less views than if they would have just stayed home and did their normal thing. Also specific to Casey, it's during his busy time of the year and he lost a lot of work to attend.

It makes perfect sense. If everyone got to pick their teams, they'd just pick the best or people they know, and there would be 0 outreach, which completely goes against the goal of the event. It's like kids playing dodgeball. You're going to pick the best in line and ignore the rest. Matt doesn't want a fierce competition as much as he wants everyone to forge relationships and experience something they probably wouldn't see otherwise. Matt probably could have thought of a better way to meet the goal though, maybe each team gets a stock jeep, and they have to modify it as a team. You have to consider how much more expensive for each team something like that would get though.

Because the more they think about it, the more they realize.... Wait lots of people with no crowd control right next to inexperienced drivers in YOUR vehicle.... Uhhhhhhhhh sounds like lawsuits.

I was wondering about the same thing 🤔. But since I've never been to this event I don't want to assume anything. From everything I've seen, this looks like it's really well put together, and I'm sure there will be some changes from last year. Maybe crowd control is one of them 🤷.

@@DirtLifestyle How is it any different than any major off road event? Way less dangerous than the events where they have trophy crawlers flinging themselves into the crowd trying to do an obstacle that’s near impossible. Here you have a few rigs slowly crawling a known trail that is very doable (relative).

Lawsuits? That's ok, LegalEagle will be there to sort them out.

I like the changes they made. Also I am a subscriber to Matt's off road.

Nate good on you for supporting a friend who has bailed you out in the past. But seriously non off road drivers driving your rig… nah, just more reality TV garbage for the clicks on the utube,

It’s total a ligit reason to back out, I get it!! But I would also argue that Matt’s channel is huge! And the opportunity to for the invite and to booste your channel is there!! Think business and this is an investment into you business growing

If I were a rig owner, I would not want some random person driving it. That's a lot of money being risked in potential damages. I wouldn't risk it personally. Good to hear a number of people still are though.

Seth from berm peak would have been a good fit also! Technical mountain biking seems like it could translate well as we are used to making line choices. He’s also got RC crawler experience!

I honestly have zero interest in the Off Road Games this year. The format makes no sense to me. No way would I let someone I don’t even know, who isn’t even and off roader drive my rig period, let alone difficult trails at Sand Hollow!!
@josbinyoface62769 ай бұрын
Just imagine putting someone that knows nothing about rock crawling in your RIG. 🤦🏽♂️ It’s no wonder everyone is backing out. 🤷🏽♂️ I’d do the same thing. 🤯

From what you are saying, the idea is an IROC seties style competition. But since the vehicles belong to people. Those people should be the only one to decide who drives them. Matt has a fleet of vehicles. He has a business that has other people driving his vehicles. But that is different for people who have have their own vehicles. And as far as spotters go. Not everyone spots the same, and trusting someone you are not familiar with, can be a problem.
