Ls swap update and I have good news and bad news

get one while they're half price for sure! @ 3:35 it's on the breather box and also in the RPO codes in the glove box. engine RPO code always starts with letter L like Ls1 or Lm7 . also the 8th digit of the vin is the engine code. @ 4:35 thats the EGR delete block off, thats ok. that black suburban engine looks clean! its throttle cable so it would be 99-02. you can check the magnetic drain plug and see if theres any metal on the magnet, id look for full clean oil, unless the yard drains them all. i'd avoid the ones with missing oil caps or may have got rain water in. you didn't get paid for the camaro yet?! i personally would ONLY give the car when they give the money.

U want a 6.0 4l80e 2wd. Most suburbans and pick ups are 5.3 4l60 4wd. I got my 6.0 out a van. Perfect for a hot rod swap.

Check oil for water. Water for oil. Maybe pull coils and valve covers to see how the engine was maintained. Put a socket on the crank and make sure it turns. Pay your cash and go for it! Got any other questions hit me up

The engine size is stamped on the block right below the heads on the side the power steering pump on 👍🏾

also, try to leave the harness on the engine, its actually easier that way. just unplug the fuse block and o2 sensors, set the cpu ontop the engine and pull the harness and cpu with the motor. you might have to untuck the o2 sensor wires, you can cut the rear o2's if need be but keep the front o2 plugs on the harness if youre going EFI. if you decide to just pull a motor, no trans, like the red 6.0 4x4, just unplug the transmission also. the black suburban harness looked uncut. if you can get the cpu and harness with the engine thats best, transmissions can be changed or swapped. you can get an engine from one, and a transmission from another if you want.

Look for something that was wrecked on the side or back. Start reading the paperwork posted on the vehicle and it will tell you why it's in there, for example if it was an insurance loss from a wreck or stolen, sometimes people donate their vehicles also. You can do a vin lookup on the car, but it’s on the block over the trans and sometimes behind the ps bracket.

Take the throttle body of the black burban dbc is the way to go. What state you in i got a few motors

You can check it it's a 5.3 or 6.0 by th front of the block under driver side head it will say 4.8/5.3 or 6.0

I was in the same boat as u didn't know wat to do or which way to go but ls swap guru is one of the youtubers who answersd all my ?s and I did my swap myself just try to get the most complete engine and trans wit computer and wiring harness and be careful wit Google I got a lot of bad info as well as good info which caused me to buy a lot of stuff twice just go with the right stuff the first time and don't doubt yourself cause that's wat caused me to make some bad purchases but now I know wat to do and wat not to do wat to buy and wat not to buy so if u have any ?s I don't mind answering cause like I said that was just me 6months ago

@@mrdiycarcustoms ok seeing how or what directions to point you too. First you wanna make sure the engine turns over freely. Look at the oil stick to make sure it's not milky like blown head gasket

@@mrdiycarcustoms and if you have a good transmission guy they can convert a 4x4 into 2wd transmission if worse comes that you don't find a 2wd transmission
