Here's a tip : Whenever waiting for a cab just move ur camera towards ground or any wall which is just close to you. Do not look at the road .You will see taxi will arrive much faster than it did when you were looking at road. Reason: If you look at ground taxi will spawn near you and if you look at road taxi will take time to spawn and will spawn much further than you. Try it ;)

do you know how car spawning works in V? if you look at both sides of the road constantly, the taxi will never spawn and thus it will take those 10 minutes it took for you. Otherwise, it would take at most 30 seconds taxis always spawn in the side of the road that you're not looking at when you already called the company

Seems like R* didn't take taxis as a frequently used way of transport (or money making) in GTA V, unlike in GTA IV. Explains why there are less dialogues, clearly less work put into the actual driving of the cab driver, and why there is only one type of taxi (there were 3 types in GTA III, 3 types in Vice City, 2 types in San Andreas, and 5 types in GTA IV, including both Roman's taxis). Also partially explains why there are only few of them on the streets and why it takes them so long to arrive to you (partially, because NYC is unlike LA full of taxis, as unlike in LA, most people don't have their own car in NYC). In GTA V, there are fast cars everywhere around you in richer parts of LS, your car is always near you, unless you leave it behind, there are many helicopters, and since there are multiple airfields, there are also airplanes, including jets. Streets and roads aren't everyhwhere, and with all the tunnels and bridges, it can get confusing for NPCs when going to the waypoint. In case you don't need specific character, you can also fast travel using the character switching. In a game like this, you will use your car to travel short and medium distances and sometimes an aircraft for long ones. With the time it takes before cabs arrive, it's not worth it. R* maybe didn't have enough time to work more on taxis in GTA V (as it is not a very important feature), so they maybe made the arrive times longer to make less people use them and notice mistakes. The difference between the money you get and money you pay is to make it worth it. While in GTA IV, there aren't that many sources of income, you're not getting that much money and you don't have anything to spend it on (except for weapons, ammo and clothes), so even few dollars are worth something (especially early in the game, when you can do cab missions). In GTA V, there are many more sources of income, you're making millions of dollars and you can spend it on a ton of stuff (weapons, ammo, clothes, properties, vehicles and upgrades, character customization and more), so few dollars are nothing and would be just a waste of time for you. Why add it in the first place? I guess they needed some missions for the cab depot. Why add cab depot? Allows for free fast travelling and gives you another business to make money. Cab depot is a pretty standard type of business and they clearly didn't have anything better to replace it, so they went with it and it was the right call.

@@lonttugamer2939 Well, can't tell, haven't played story mode for like 2 years or so, so I don't remember. I think I used them a couple of times and they arrived pretty quickly. Waiting ten minutes like in this video seems really pointless and I feel like that's not how it usually goes. But I expect him to test it multiple times, so he should be able to figure out it was a bug or something. Hard to tell, I guess it takes no longer than a minute in normal situation for the taxi to arrive. The thing is, taxis were moved to a side line, from being one of the two most used ways of travelling in GTA IV, in GTA V airplanes took a lot of attention from them. You wouldn't really use a taxi for shorter distances, and if for some reason you need to go somewhere far, you often either take your car so you can drive it around once you get there, or you use an aircraft. Since taxis rarely appear on streets, it's not very intuitive for most players to use them, but yes, I agree they are great for fast travelling

I'd like to give my respects to LC cab drivers, as I like them a lot and have always liked them since I started playing this game. I'd even say, I like them a lot more than some of the characters, especially the Russian drivers) They're always hilarious, make funny comments, and are quite a good way of fast-travelling. I used fast travel quite a lot during my first walkthrough but now I rarely skip trips and enjoy driving to the destination with some great music playing in the background. They're always cool and relaxed while driving, even when they get into an accident or two on the way. They handle the car well, the car accidents when you hurry them up being the fault of the AI, but to me it's more like a funny detail denoting aggressive driving, and that's why these crashes never irritate me. They always change the radio station without complaining so you can listen to your favourite track. For the most part of the ride they're silent and don't disturb you with constant babbling, only making a joke here and there. And what's best of all, they'll drive you to your destination against all odds, no matter what happens on the way. (They sometimes get stuck in traffic though, but there's always a "Trip skip" button😉). It's a pity there's no taxi driver character in IV (Roman is more like a dispatcher to me), who could serve as Niko's friend and kind of a getaway driver thanks to his professional driving skills... One can't but respect these guys who do their job properly in such a corrupt world.

Because the taxi drivers will have to pay for the damage as they do not own the car so the bars are insurance, most impala's were purchased by taxi depots and police at the time because they were cheap these are the ones with the stock fins in the back seen in gta4

The taxis are in GTA Online but the thing that sucks is that you cannot skip their driving like you can in single player.

The actual driving AI in GTA V is significantly better than in IV. Taxis in IV consistently got stuck. I've never seen a taxi get stuck in V.
