In today's release, we’re going to dive into some details on the Kelford valve springs and HS108-D selected for our LS powered Holden Commodore SS VE project along with some of the supporting modifications that go along with such an upgrade. Also covered are some of the fitment considerations with this project being completed in the engine bay rather than on an engine stand with a fresh build making it relative to a wide range of projects out there.

As usual, Great vid! Kelford was a “go to” in my 4g63 days. Cool to see what they have for LSs. Would be interesting to see a before and after on dyno.

Why wouldn’t you measure the lift at the valve? That way the cam can operate the valves as per usual, applying all the expected drag, keeping the timing chain tight and lifters on the ramp. Then use centreline to check it’s timed as per the spec sheet

David Vizard made a comment on how a lower clearance for the springs would make better use of the beehive behavior. Like 0.025 instead of the normally used(adviced) 0.05-0.06. Is this something that is used professionally?

Why the american V8 cam, run larger duration on the exhaust side? Instead of larger duration on intake side like most engines.

whats the purpose of new lifter unless you are deleting the dumb DOD ?

If I was putting an aggressive cam in my motor I would put new lifters in it !!

@@waynepraetz no point if you have a healthy lifters unless you are going for short travel lifters for maximum performance which will gain you almost 10hp

With roller type lifters/followers, it isn't required with mild camshafts. If it were a flat tappet type it would be foolish, to say the least, if they weren't replaced and correctly bedded in.
