The broken bit is a sprag clutch...Here's a tip for the speedo gear...What ratio did a manual VN have(1:1 4th gear) and what rolling diameter are the tyres you'll be running...9/10 guys don't even worry about the top bolt...350's came on the back of 350 HQ's...253 & 308 had Trimattic...Is the Y pipe good.?..I could use a better one than I have...Did you know that VN's came out with a tow package and that included an external trans oil cooler and factory brackets to mount the cooler correctly...2 reasons you need good cooling..1 is that the converter slip will create heat and 2 you'll be on it a fair bit and that will create a lot more heat and trannys don't like heat...Keep havin' fun mate.

@@anthonywhelan8373 Yes they had a turbo pattern but I'm pretty sure all Holden engine cars had a Trimattic until VN then went to 700r..That's easy to check...Google a trans for a HG-VK 308..
@nooffence76703 жыл бұрын
In a statsman and premier turbo blocks any 308 got turbo 400 and 10bolt rear in a commodore they changed to turbo 350 400 when I don't know .all vn vp where turbo 700 I know turbo blocks did not start to hq and weren't as common as you think

Can't wait to see it all back together mate. I think at this point before the tune, if you can get a cheap LS6 manifold you might as well. Seen 10 to 15 rwhp gains.

In my experience i have only seen around a 10hp at the wheels increaseis fitting an ls6 intake over the earlier ls1 intake from vt II, series 1 WH. But to be fair there were minor tune changes in both the instances i have been part of so hard tp say what actually made the difference. Research your numbers cast into the manifold pretty well most vx upwards in australia had the ls6 intake already
@stuey77773 жыл бұрын
Have a read of project VF. They ran a heap of tests on Manifolds, Intakes, exhausts etc all with baseline dyno & track numbers before and after. Very interesting reading! Theres also a second part called "Project VF2" Basically stock manifold and TB was the go, along with 1 3/4 headers rather than 1 7/8th. I believe their shop built the fastest NA LS powered commodore ever pulling 9's with simple bolt ons.

I know on LS1tech they used to have a back to back test and the LS6 manifold is good for about 20-30 wheel iirc, theres also the dorman intake that's even better than the factory LS6.
@MindieJ3 жыл бұрын

@codeyjames72083 жыл бұрын
If it has 241 heads it most likely has the ls6 manifold already, best factory manifold to get is a four bolt Cath port found on the vz hsv/ve series one hsv then you need to buy a four bolt cable throttle

correct, ran the part number and it already has one

I've done a few LS conversions and I would highly recommend a Toyota Landcruiser 80 series transmission cooler, they are massive, much bigger than all the aftermarket ones and pretty cheap. +1 for having it on the side and filling from the bottom.

As I understand it all the later model LS1s in Oz had the LS6 intake. Think only early VT LS1s had LS1 intake. My VY LS1 has Part Number 12573572, which is same as LS6 Z06 at least. USA forums reckon on about 20HP upgrade from LS1 to LS6

Trying to understand why you didn't just get the 4L60 rebuilt? I'm in Alberta canada..I run an NA 6.1 litre making well over 500 with a yank 3400 convertor and a built L60. For 2 grand Black X Racing built my tranny to withstand 700 lbs/ft...600 plus HP. The L60 has the lowest 1st gear available, and allows 120 KPH cruising at 2100 RPM with 3:73 rear gear.
@mynameis633 жыл бұрын
Just finished scrolling the comments..found your reply to my question. It's true..an L60 can be a weak link if not properly built..maybe in your part of the world it's cost prohibitive..which truly sucks if it's the case...thankfully for me as an Albertan...a built L60 is the way to go.

Mate can I ask why you went with the th350 instead of the 4L60E or 6l80E as my 4L60E was rebuilt with a few extra's to make her stronger 3 year's ago now and that takes 500rwhp & 527 TQ. That what my 5.8L LS1 yes it has oversized pistons is why it's 5.8L in my VX Calais was dyno at just over a year ago now with around 55 1/4 mile passes on her. A retired transmission builder built it for me back then and he's going to freshen it for me at the end of the year if covid pisses off here in NZ. Only asking as keen to know if there's any benefit's.
