I got a 1995 ls400 and its overcharging the battery to 18.5 volts lol I could just replace the voltage regulator but I'm probably gonna replace the whole alternator for a new one and a new belt any recommendations?

I personally would recommend just getting it rebuilt because they can go through and check all of your bearings and replace the regulator and it will be a little cheaper than a brand new one.

many state the hydraulic fluid shorts the alternator. That cannot happen as Hydraulic fluid is dielectric and cannot short electrical components as there are servos inside transmissions that work in the presence of ATF. So what causes these to go out? Slip ring to brush contact?

For a little cheaper I was able to get that 1 rebuilt and have it the next day compared to waiting a week or 2 for a used one on eBay

@@cunninghamgarage2074 I am in the same situation and they go for around $100 on eBay but I am not sure the rebuilt is the same quality as OEM

If you feel more comfortable picking the one up from eBay I would go ahead and do it but I would also get your old one rebuilt just to keep as a spare
