I built your same engine. Rebuilt LQ4 short block with the Truck Norris cam with 862 heads and have the heads ported, plus I’m putting it in a 06 1500 with 4.56 gears and 35’s. I might see the same maybe.

I think I mention the roads I travel are mostly county roads. So I have 3 stop signs on my route to and from work, the rest is 50-60mph with a few small hills, so defiantly not like city driving.

I'm currently getting like 8 - 10 city and 12 highway. hopefully my built motor we be a bit more efficient considering it will make a bit more all through cruising speed. 13.5 is amazing for a 2500HD 6.0
@JohnnyAnderson1

If I drive city it will be closer to 10mpg and if I cruise at 80 it will be around 12. The 13-14mpg is mostly 50-60mph backroad driving with the occasional stop sign.

Last time I looked there was the high lift and low lift version. The low lift makes almost exactly the same power from the dynos I have seen and supposedly doesn't require a valvesprings change. Although I would at personaly replace the springs anyways.

@@rubensalais1502 why are you swapping the ly6 for a l92 there pretty much the same motor l92 has a little more compression and its aluminum. You can mill the heads for more compression and if you ever decide to go boost the iron block wont lift heads. The extra .2 in displacement is negligible.

What octane fuel are you running with the added compression of that l4q? I would love to bump the compression in mine but i still want to run 87 octane. Have you ever put a draggy on the truck?
@JohnnyAnderson1
@JohnnyAnderson1 2 жыл бұрын
Dont have a draggy, I am running 87. But I have been keeping my computer on and scanning for knock when towing. I havent had any yet other than false knock from an exhaust leak. I am also going to check for knock again once it warms up this summer and the air temps get much higher.

@@JohnnyAnderson1 ok cool. I draggy mine as mods go. It's a great tuning tool, very accurate. It went 15.2 at almost 94mph with just efans, full SE exhaust, homemade intake tube and very mild tuning. That was on 285/70 17 hummer wheels and the oe 4.10s I went to 305/70 17 tires on it now so idk what it will run yet with those. Needs a gear change now really. I have been working on the tune a bit more. Need to get my wide band in it now. Be cool to see the threshold of compression pushed on 87 a bit since it adds tq everywhere.

I recall watching a Richard Holdener live chat about LSA and cam events probably a year or two ago, you were asking about a truck cam with a 210 duration on a 108 LSA. I have a similar 2500hd that I am re-doing because I didn’t want to spend the money on one that already runs and drives. I do have a truck Norris on the way. Can you hit me up on Facebook messenger? I have a question for you that I don’t want to drop here. Thank you, Jonathan Quell

Yes he was on a live chat with Brian Tooley, this was months before the turck norris cam even came out so im wondering if my question sparked interest in Brian Tooley's mind or if it was already being talked about lol. Thats pretty much what I did with this truck although it did run and drive, it has about 300,000 miles on it and the body and interior were trashed when I got it. But I had to work with my budget and use my "skills" to make it nice and this is the best truck I have ever owned now. I dont have facebook but you can Email me fullforce1972@gmail.com
