Im currently doing my second year in OCR a level biology and i have got to say... You are the best teacher i know. You make it seem so simple yet you make sure to cover all important keywords and information that they will ask in exam. Thank you so much for these videos and hopefully with your help i will get an A :)

Thanks so much my teacher can't teach so this is great, she expects us to know everything before we start the lesson now I know a fair bit :))))

thanks! but go easy on your teacher, I'm sure they're doing what they think is best for you....try talking to them to find out where they're coming from.

So, are the receptors that the neurotransmitters bind to themselves the membrane proteins ? Does that mean it's fair to say the neurotransmitters change the shape of the receptors or the Na+ channel proteins ? Finally, can 1 neurotransmitter cause an inhibitory response in 1 synapse and an excitatory response in another ? To me it doesn't make any sense because the neurotransmitter only binds to receptors which are complementary to its shape so they will only bind to 1 "type" of receptor and 1 "ion" channel protein type; yet again, Bio never really made any sense to me so idk

interesting question so I answered in a video (would have made a very long reply!): kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYGTq5WXeb-SiK8

is this a cholerginic synapse?
@LSCBiology3 жыл бұрын
if acetylcholine is the neurotransmitter, then yes, it's a cholinergic synapse.

Is the receptor and ligand gates channels the same thing ?
@LSCBiology5 жыл бұрын
Ligand gated channel is a better description as it describes binding the neurotransmitter AND allowing the diffusion of ions. If you say receptor alone, it doesn’t cover both parts of its function.
