One more thing....please get a 92 Z28 "bow tie" grill or cut the license plate mounting plate off. Would look 100% better. Also relocate the battery to the rear of the car....then you can mount the pump there.

You're killing me here bro!!! I'm a fox body guy and I have been since I was a kid but man you're car is really making me consider selling my mint notch and going to the dark side!!! To be honest I have considerd ls swapping the car but now I'm thinking....an IROC might be a nice change!!!! My first car actually was a mint condition 87 Canary yellow/ black int t roof IROC 5.0 5 speed but got beat by too many foxbody mustangs so I sold it and bought a fox!!! Now it's 20yrs later and 10 foxes later!!! Awesome channel bud!

@ 4:09 When you speak about the upper heat exchanger mounts, I envision a aluminum or steel tube with a bolt running threw the middle, bolting the upper mounts to the core support. Just an idea. Bye the way, YOU HAVE 1 HECK OF A 3RD GEN!! NICE DOESN'T EVEN BEGIN TO EXPRESS THE AMOUNT OF DROOL THAT SPEWS FROM MY MOUTH WHEN I SEE YOUR VIDEO'S! That is on sick 3rd gen! I still have such memorable thoughts of our old stroker 406 & I am still in need of a 3rd gen!!!!!!!!!! BEST OF LUCK BRO!!!!!!!!!

I used the same intercooler pump for mine and finding a place in a 4th gen wasn’t any easier. Looking good! Almost there!!

Good idea to keep some strap steel in the shop to make your own brackets. Just bend them and drill and cut as needed.
@aaronlaro20836 жыл бұрын
Nice work, but I have a little tip for you that will help you out. Whenever your using a grinder whether its with a cut-off wheel, grinding wheel, flap disc etc. with in close proximity of glass (e.g. your windshield), you need to cover it cause the hot sparks will leave small divots in the glass that will look and feel like tree sap and the only way to fix it is to replace the glass. Looking forward to see what it makes at the wheels.
@lsxmatt6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate the tip, but unfortunately I learned this the hard way when I cut out my dash brackets for the 92 swap. Im hoping to get the windshield replaced eventually, but it’s not too noticeable. Cars going to the tuner on 8/2, so soon enough!

That pump is stock in the V. The Zl1 has a different higher flow pump.
@scottlambeth54786 жыл бұрын
The true test of that new intercooler system is to turn the pump on and take the fluid reservoir cap off and verify the fluid is churning and appears to be moving properly. BTW, that Bosch pump is also used in the Ford Lightnings and Mustang Cobras. A good higher flowing upgrade would be a Davies Craig, it's a Bosch pump rebuilt to be brushless so it'll last longer and be more reliable
@lsxmatt6 жыл бұрын
I actually didn’t wire the pump up in this vid, so I didn’t have it working yet. It’s up and running now though, and it’s moving the fluid great👍
@scottlambeth54786 жыл бұрын
That's good to know that it's flowing well. With the size of the heat exchanger and length of the heater hoses I was curious if there may be some latency issues with the flow in the system. That's why I mentioned the Davies Craig pump, it flows about 1.6 GPM more than the Bosch you used.

That water pump is in Z06 in the fender and in the z28 Camaro has them also in between the engine and radiator idk where or if the cts-V has one and where

You should have installed an aluminum BBC. They fit great and power is off the wall for camaro, i had to change my rear end to handle the power and now using a turbo 400 trans. Not sure what your plans are for your camaro. But good luck

Want this so bad. You started doing this conversion right when I started to consider doing it. But the exchange rate to Canada really makes this stuff expensive up here. Definitely doing ported heads, a cam and long tubes, but once you've gone that far, may as well just go all the way, right?!
@3rdGenGuy6 жыл бұрын
Core thickness makes almost no difference. you can DOUBLE the thickness and gain Sub 25% efficiency thinner+wider=better you can also consider running several smaller exchangers as well. the new ZL1 has 1 large Radiator and 2 smaller ones for the blower and engine coolant.
@lsxmatt6 жыл бұрын
I actually did consider this. Now to find more room🤔🤔

I know this video is a little older but you may want to go away from using those interstate batteries. We carried them for years and they are not close to what they used to be a decade ago. We replace way more under warranty than what we use to. I quit using them in all of our household cars as well after a couple of issues. I’ve been using odyssey extreme batteries lately and love them.

Haha I was looking at red tops, but they have the posts on the top and I don’t think it will clear the hood. Main reason for the Walmart was price and warranty. 85 bucks and a 5 year warranty🤷♂️
