I acquired a Genesis in CPM 3V two years ago. It's an excellent knife and I'm a happy camper!

How hard is their 3v to sharpen? I’m tempted to get one also.

I use this knife for everything now, and I love it.. The A2 Steel is perfect and the handle is just great plus you can't beat the price with the included sheath which was another reason for me to purchase this knife. It has a nice spine on the back for scrapping and the Scandi grind on the blade it very easy to maintain.

I just ordered this knife in 3V today. It's nice to see a review where actual bushcrafting is done. I'm so tired of nothing but battoning logs in half. Thanks for the review!

Those knives are indestructible. My uncle has six of the Lt Wright Genesis on his big ass fishing boat as bait knives. First thing we do is clean them and oil them after use. Had no idea they were that expensive. No wonder he loves them so much. They just looked like ordinary bait knives to me.....I had no idea.
@preparedmind10110 жыл бұрын
Bait knives?? I'd just use a bush lore for that. A Genesis seems like serious overkill. Hell, a Mora Companion would be a good bait knife.
@JamieHitt10 жыл бұрын
PREPAREDMIND101 He's all about the quality. He has a charter fishing boat and makes money with those knives. You'd think he'd go with something more "stainless" but he takes care of his gear.

He's a man of good taste! Nothing wrong with having quality gear and using them for what they r designed for.......to be used! Hahaha to many people buy custom knives and are scared to use them and that's a crying shame.

I would love a GNS 3V with the Genesis handle and an exposed pommel like a Garberg. A combination of those design features would make a perfect wood carving bushcraft knife for me.

Can you review the LT Wright Bush Baby 3v? I can’t find any reviews on them thanks. Btw I have a Genesis A2 flat grind and love it.

In my youtube watching of dave canterbury and many others I have herd that you are supposed to draw the Pharoah rod towards you and leave the knife still. I just saw you having trouble with starting the fire thought you might want to know.
@mayo4705 жыл бұрын
Not you or the knife, tinder wasn't totally dead wood so took a while to light. You and Mantis have reviewed both the Genesis and the Bushcrafter HC, do you recommended one over the other? The Genesis is more than twice the cost of the Bushcrafter HC... I know the length, thickness and steels are different (basically 2 different knives) but value your opinion. Thanks Chris, great video as always.

I have seen several videos on this knife, it seems like a good knife. But I prefer the Woodsman Pro because I like drop points better than spear points. I have heard that you can't use the flint and steel method with A2. Would you test this? I know that lighter > ferro rod > flint & steel, but it still would be good to know.

Chris you need to get a Jacklore knife from the UK one of the best ever bushcraft knives.

Agree 100% that a knife with out a 90 degree spine IS LIMITING! Also agree 100% that handle profile is VERY IMPORTANT

I enjoy watching you and Will. As I browsed through your Amazon store I saw that you have several versions of the large ferro rods. Which rod do you prefer?

I would really like to see a video on some hardware store brand hatchets.. They are very cheap and my estwing hatchet has served the family very well for many years.. and I must say it splits better than almost any other hatchet ive used.

I put a 90 degree spine on my Bushlore that is as good as my bushcraft black by Mora, it's not my favorite design in a knife, but it's not the worst either.

Good review Chris! It's a really nice knife, and it reminds me a lot of the Tops Dragonfly, only nicer & with a true Scandi Grind. I've never cared for the aesthetics of the spear point blade design myself, but you can't argue with how well it works! I also really like the 1/8" blade thickness over the thicker 3/16" and especially 1/4" thick knives. There's just no need for anything thicker than that on an outdoor knife of this size! Anyone who simply has to have a really cool kydex sheath for this knife should check out the 'One Foot Into the Wild' version of the Genesis which was co-designed by Jamie L. Burleigh of The Pathfinder School. It has the locking kydex sheath with the leather belt loop & ferro rod loop that's been used on many knives from BHK in the past, including the PLSK-1. The sheath for the 'OFITW' Genesis has a convenient addition however; a ceramic sharpening/honing rod is integrated into the sheath itself and therefore always available whenever a quick touch up is needed. Me personally I'd stick with the standard sheath just because I like the more traditional look for this type of knife, and it's considerably cheaper, but I do have to admit that the 'One Foot Into the Wild' version is pretty sweet.

It is a great knife! I used mine very much since I got it! Make a try stick and carvings with it and you will see what it can do for you ;) Cutting chicken, fish and meat like butter. Really don´t need much sharpening holds the edge very well. Worth every penny !

Now that's a knife handle! Don't know why knife makers try to get all fancy and ergonomic with their handles... they end up ruined. Don't need an extreme palm swell and finger grooves... yuck!

Just my opinion, but I think Will is wring about Green wood feathersticks. It's a waste of time personally because you can see how much harder it is to make curls in hard deadwood no matter what so I don't understand why y all use green wood. I get it, you have to get very fine curls for a feathersticks to light in green wood but you have to have have a very good knife and very sharp skills to make a good feathersticks out of deadwood Your channel so do whatever you like, JMHO
