Modern Naval combat just doesn't translate to a fun game. You're just lobbing anti shipping missles from beyond visual range and there's not much strategy to it when compared to ww2 naval battles using cannons

I had no idea about the upcoming Scourge of War remaster. That's really fantastic news. The fact that you can't even buy the original Scourge of War on Steam, or even on Norb's own website, makes this one sorely needed (though thankfully you can still get Take Command on Steam).

Loved the video @LTGamers! Can't wait for the next video man! First video of yours that I'm watching and absolutely loving the content man! Tank Squad looks like a Cross between War Thunder and Squad, but it's still looks cool and is kinda like a World War Two counterpart to Gunner HEAT. Silent Depths 2: Pacific really gives off the Silent Hunter Feels, my main thing is that I hope you get all the Submarines from the Nation's that will be Covered in the Game. It looks like the Devs have done that but it might just be clips from their Trailer for the Game. Men of War II is Definitely worth the Hype, we've waited quite a while for it to come out and it looks so cool!Can't wait to see how things turn out. Armoured Brigade II looks like a Cross between Wargame: Red Dragon and Men of War: Assault Squad II, That's going to be one for the Books to check out. Modern Naval Warfare looks pretty Interesting, especially since they have the More Modern Virginia-class Nuclear Powered Submarines from the United States Navy, which would imply that the Four Submarines of the Vanguard-class from the Royal Navy are among the Ships and Submarines in the Game as well. Most of these Submarines aren't even 30 years old, so any Detailed Information about their Design will still be Classified for the Next 20 years or so. Seeing how the Devs managed to Model what little Information that is available in the Game will be interesting to see. Sea Power: Naval Warfare in the Missile Age, Task Force Admiral and Broken Arrow are all still up for the Hype. I myself am Following the Development of TFA on their Facebook page and they've done a Phenomenal Job with their Renders, the Sounds and even the Soundtrack. 1942 covers the Battle of The Coral Sea in May, The Battle of Midway in June and the Majority of the Guadalcanal Campaign starting in August along with The Battle of the Eastern Solomons in the same Month and The Battle of Santa Cruz in October. I'm hoping that we get to see some more from the Game in Future as there's a lot of History and Equipment to cover especially for the Pacific War. Thanks for this fantastic list! While I wouldn't consider myself a typical wargamer, a few of these games have definitely piqued my interest. I completely missed the predecessor to Silent Depth 2: Pacific, but it looks very promising. Modern naval warfare could be the successor to Sub Command. Scourge of War: Remastered also looks appealing. If Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age allows submarine gameplay, I'm definitely interested. Broken Arrow has a fantastic sound design and interesting mechanics.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Fortresses and Focke-Wulfs -- Dieppe (a DLC for IL-2 Cliffs of Dover Blitz) is coming out in late 2024. There will be a flyable B-17E, car door Hawker Typhoon, P-51A, Bf-110F, Beaufighter Mk. VI and Fw-190A to name a few.

With big names like Slitherine and Microprose back into the full time swing of making wargames, it just reminds me how hard it is to make them right. Because, basically, you are trying to simulate something that cannot happen. In real life, it CANNOT HAPPEN that ONE PERSON is in charge of all these units, in real time, across such large battles. It just doesn't work that way. But when you are trying to make a game, you seemingly have to try to make that work. I personally think that what will move this genre forward more than anything, would be a title that focuses on COOP Role Based teamwork. A game that advertises and demonstrates the value of having roles that focus on specific types of units and tactics, like: 1. One player manages the Army. 2. Another player manages the Navy. 3. Another player manages the Air Force 4. Maybe another focuses specifically on Recon forces or Intel in general. In this way, players can learn and specialize in certain types of battle tactics, and certain units, in a SINGLE slice of the effort. This allows players to get very proficient without being overwhelmed by the complexity of all the different tactics, and engagement ranges, and capabilities of their own units and the expected enemy units. Without that, it's really hard to have a game that is both realistic enough to be engaging, and still manageable by one player. There is just so much you have to keep front of mind, and in real life, noone is ever asked to do that; it is instead spread across a command structure where each group simply manages their own scope and expects others to manage theirs.

That would be very welcome. Note those were based on the boardgames of the same name, and since then we've had Whistling Death and Wings of the Motherland, covering the Pacific and Eastern Front respectively. But if this is based on those original games, the designer has kept remarkably quiet about it.

Like 6 months ago I saw a video of a upcoming Battlefield like game, that also had mechs and stuff. Like a mix between Titanfall, battlefield 2142 and Planetside or something. You played as a foot soldier but could also jump into vehicles and mechs. This is all I remember about it sadly, I dont remember the name or any more gameplay details

The Demo for Broken Arrow was rather bad though. The performance was poor, despite my rather good hardware, especially due to the visual bugs due to the AMD drivers not working well with the game. I hope they fix it because it was rather fun to play, although you feel a bit disconnected from the units in comparison to WARNO and World in Conflict, the two games where it neatly sits in between. Thanks for the video though, I am currently downloading the Demos to Headquaters: WWII and Tank Squad, two games that I was not aware of.

to me BA demo was good, i had fun until meta came xD, i have an AMD and it was running super great (not excluding your problem), and yes there were bugs in visual problems in my demo too unfortunatly. One thing that i felt is that in BA i felt like i had more control over the units, warno with the 3h that i played didnt like it because units felt like they would get killed so easly and they would be replaced very easly so you wouldnt be in control. Anyway, lets see how the singleplayer will be and the editor, thats what im looking foward to

Task Force Admiral is a continuation of a previous series that started in the early 1990s -Task Force 1942: Surface Naval Action in the South Pacific which was followed by 1942: The Pacific Air War Huh.... Scourge of War *could* be good. A lot to fix. Mainly related to unit control and poor sprites. I don’t know why Take Control just played better. With no Napoleon TW 2 there is a market there to grab. Wishing the team the best.

I wonder about Tank Squad Vs War Thunder sim mode, as the WT has great community, which, due lots of frustration aroud the game may jump at this game, pushing War Thunder devs to listen to community. I'm a veteran of 22 years and I have enjoyed these types of games for a very long while and am old enough (65) to have known things like Stratego and happily played with those "Little Green Army Men" while watching Rat Patrol, 12 O'clock High, etc. But now, as said old man, I have to wonder what it says about us as a species that these types of "entertainment" still fascinate us??? The study of human history is the study of war, destruction, and death. Not surprising then that our games and entertainment mirror all that. 😞

As a veteran, war is the one human endeavor that unlike wargames, doesn't reward losers or cheaters. We are after all predators at our most basic level (BTW, you left out the Lieutenant and Combat two of my favorites from childhood). I like the detail of some of these games and hope the anti-cheats work better than War Thunder.

The devs of both games are active on the Microprose discord and are constantly giving out updates. Progress is happening, they just have small dev teams (iirc TFA only has one actual programmer) so it’s slow.
