Those interested, there's a chinese live action series Three Kingdoms 2011 with 96 episodes, all on youtube. Not quite the budget of Game of Thrones, but the writing quality is twice as good. Well worth checking out.

I think the reason the older Dynasty Warriors games got the names wrong might be because they were using English phonetics instead of Chinese. I do not blame them though. Chinese is difficult.

You are right. My way of telling my non-Chinese friends how to pronounce the 'c' is telling them it is similar to the "t's" sound in "Let's" or any 'ts' ending word like cats hats bats etc.

If you want too you should check out dynasty warriors 7 or 8 if you ps3/xbox 360(or ps4/xb1) if you like the dynasty warriors games. If you want more fantasy elements checking out warriors orochi series is cross over with dynasty and samurai warriors together. IMO great fun games if you want some simple to play by yourself or playing with a friend or family because its a easy game to pick up and play and enjoy the story in the game. My favorite character is Jiang Wei of Shu, Wu is my favorite kingdom and IMO Cao Cao was the best leader of all three of them.

It's Tsao Tsao which the games fixed 6 and onwards, and 6 actually was also released for the PlayStation 2 and that version had a tiny bit more content

Dynasty Warriors is a game inspired by the Novel book "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" which alters the true history of the 3 kingdoms but, it still is a good read and the game inspired by it is fun. My favorite character is Ma Chao.

Also Cao Cao is pronounced Tsou Tsou, however the game series did call him Cao Cao up until 6 I think, in the last 3 it was corrected and changed to the Tsou Tsou pronunciation.

I find your horror when someone kills someone else for power kind of refreshing XD Because I would just.. accept it as the way of the World at the time XD Also, some more in depth knowledge on the rule of inheritance; the emperor, as you may have noticed, had several hundreds of concubines and could also have several tens of wives. The crown prince would be chosen from one of the children of his actual wives. It would not necessarily be the oldest, mind. The woman who gave birth to the heir gained an incredible amount of prestige and/or power. Power in Chinese courts depended, obviously, on your position and also often on merit/honour. When they say the eunuchs gainned power, they likely gained ministerial roles. That is also why you often saw literal assassinations among officials.

Considering that any respectable family would want at least one of their daughters in the emperor's harem, that means she essentially ruled a faction with ties to every single powerful family in China. Me too, DW4 was the game I played in the series the most as a kid, also DW4 Cao Cao had the most overly dramatic voice actor of the entire cast. That's why his became my favourite faction as a kid, Liu Bei had really flat voice acting, but Cao Cao in comparison was amazingly over top. To this day my brother and I still quote his Dynasty Warriors 4 lines to each other
