Luas Cross City opens for business

Finally after four years of construction the Luas Cross City is now complete and is now open for business. On Saturday the 9th of December it was officially opened to the general public and has since been a great success in the city of Dublin.
The first tram to the new Broombridge station left St. Stephen's Green shortly after 2pm and made the first public run to Broombridge. It was seen at St. Stephen's Green, O'Connell GPO and Domnick Street Lower.
There was a great atmosphere is the city of the day of opening, people cheered as the first tram left St.Stephen's Green and arrived on O'Connell Street. There was also a band playing Christmas Carols at Broombridge which made a very festive atmosphere.
The rest of the video features every other spot along the line that you can see trams from, note that not all shots were taken on the same day, it was all filmed on different days.
Now that the line is now open I hope to take a ride on it and hopefully make a video out of it.
But it's a brilliant line and it's a great addition to Dublin's Transport Network.

I just wish there was a LUAS/DART underground to the Irish Ferries/Stena Terminals at North Wall, as it’s a real hassle every time I come home on SailRail from Manchester via Holyhead - I have family around Dublin and in my native Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, so I’m also looking forward to the Dublin Docklands - M3 Parkway line to be extended to Navan very soon, as this will enhance both HS2 here in the U.K. and the high speed rail tunnel from Holyhead to Dublin - I use the LUAS and the DART quite frequently when I come home to Ireland on an Irish passport at age 52, having lived in Manchester 21 years, yet I care very much about what happens to my native Ireland, my real home

Nice! I stayed in Dublin this year from January till May and the first test runs were just 2 weeks after I got home. I need to go back just to see this myself at some point! Merry Christmas from Germany!

The section from Dawson street to Parnell street never should have been built theres too much slowing up of buses and other traffic what would have been better was they should have built luas from Parnell to Finglas and then build the metro which would have joined up everything.

Honestly they should just limit the amount of buses on those sections so that there are fewer traffic jams and delays.

No. The Luas opened in 2004 but it wasn’t extended to Broombridge until 2017.
