@@gabegoldman6021 I’m not a drone guy but I *think* he pulled over, put the drone on a tracking/follow mode where it uses autopilot to follow and shoot whatever you set it to, and then went driving for a few miles. Locally grown Big Bear kid. Stoked to see a big mountain dude checking out the hometown. Pretty typical up here to not have the whole mountain open late November-early December. Hence why so many park riders come out of Big Bear. Bear is famous for its terrain parks and steeps, where Summit is more a novice/family friendly option. Thanks for making the stop brotha, stoked that you pulled through last season!!

Snow Summit is where I took my first lesson at 10yrs old. Stuck with lessons for 4 yrs in a row, I can ski anything now and so stoked my parents introduced me to skiing at a young age, me and my brother would ski all day and then ski at night till 10pm as they have night skiing, man we freezed our buns off, we would do this for a two week stretch for our winter vacation. When your young, you have alot of energy, I could never do that kmow at 59. For a two hour drive out of L.A., fun skiing. So Lucas, you are skiing on many runs I've skied for 45 yrs. My favorite is still Mammoth and Tahoe. Snow Summit, unfortunately, can very icy in the mornings as they blow alot of man made flakes. I did have a few powders days there, but kinda rare as the cats usually mow most of the terrain.

@@LucasCatania17 great chill Mt vibes and I found easy Boondocking. I was there in spring the first trip so not sure the forest I camped in will be open but I found a spot south east of town in a big lot where there were a few other van dwellers out Sherwin creek rd. I’m sure there are more. Or you can camp at the campgrounds in town. I stayed there last year and they were just about to push their rates up and it was already pricey, but I was sharing it with one other person so it was cheap. I can’t remember the name of the place but I’m sure if you look it up you will find the one that’s open in winter. Great showers and laundry plus you get to plug-in so you can use your electric heater. I always keep an electric heater on board, just one of those mini ones so that when I do pay for a spot like that I can crank my electric heater. There was a Pha near that campground where they started the soup a couple days before. If you’d like Pha it’s totally amazing. Enough for two meals easy. If you’re interested, I’ll find the name of the place. And then there’s the mountain. It’s an amazing mountain, it’s got everything, maybe too much wind but I guess that’s going to happen in the Sierras. enjoy brother of the boards.

If you ever pass thru LA - -try Mt. Baldy if it is open (it wasn't) or Mtn High which was - both are closer to freeways (I-15 to 395) to Mammoth. Baldy is the only real steep local mountain -in the San Gabriel's - and worth a day when it has snow. High is open 9-10pm and has snow making allowing it an early open in SoCal. Wow epic drive, yup I’m taking the year off just chilling out in the desert this winter , yoga, meditation, MTBing and have my kayak. Loved ur humbling day at Suger Bowl. I’m 51 so I definitely take new resorts slow. I think I’ll buy 5 season passes next year, including Mt collective. Epic, Ikon, Indy, loveland are the other 4. Sugar bowl was just added to Mountain collective and I’ve always wanted to ride there but not pay the daily price. This way, I also get a bunch of other days at places I’ll end up going like big sky, grand Targhee, just to name a few. The Loveland pass is great because it includes a bunch of other places including the powder alliance. I don’t actually often ski Loveland but it’s worth it for all the other places. Little bit difficult taking this year off watching such a good snow year early on but I’m also kind of psyched just to rest and get all set for next year where I’ll probably spend a lot of time in Canada. I love that Sun peaks is now on the icon. That place looks great. Anyways, love following you, I get to see what I missing. I’ll soak up the sun for you. Happy trails.

Just an odd fun fact that I thought you would like. And the irony of him getting hurt skiing. I’m a border but it’s all just skidding on boards so I don’t discriminate 😉 I almost changed gears a week ago and bought passes since Utah n Cali got so much snow , not to mention the NW have gotten the goods this year. You have gotten many solid days in and your not to Jan yet. I assume your body is almost in peak riding shape n you not at Xmass yet. Yup that should be an epic year. Bachelor is also easy for van life u can get a sno parks pass n park at the plowed National forest parking area. It’s 5 min from Mt. And Mt hood up the road is also epic. But you prob don’t have those passes they are on Indy n Loveland pass. Anyways, watch out for snow snakes n keep ripping.

Big Bear Holy Cow!!! I live here... It's been a really dry winter season so far. It's definitely for people who are beginners because it's so close to LA, OC, and San Diego areas. It's one of the only mountains in Southern California that get snow and you can ski on so we get really crowded during big snow storms POWDAYS. You were at Snow Summit, which is popular with new riders/families. Bear Mountain has more black diamonds, but everything is closed because we haven't had a decent snowstorm this season. These two resorts make for great weekday riding if you live up here or are from areas "down the hill".... and the majority of people who know what they are doing usually head up to Mammoth on the weekends for better snow and terrain. Another great video.. glad to see the drone make a comeback! Too bad the drone wasn’t overhead when you took that little fall off the jump😂 Don’t know if you are still taking name requests but I’m throwing my vote in for Stoke Ravens in memory of my little black lab Raven that passed away at 15 last year🐾❤️

That's the first place I ever snowboarded or did any snow sport on a mountain, back in 1993. Hard to go back to it after Switzerland and Tahoe, but it's good if you have a group in the area and you are just out there for fun, but the snow sucks ha ha. It's confusing Snow Summit is the biggest one, then there are some other places and I'm not quite sure which is which.

Hey Luis your your videos are absolutely amazing great camera skills... I wish I could have been with you at Summit I could have showed you a few " Secret " places... it's mainly a groomer Mountain and the wall was not open that day☹ you would love Mount Baldy California which literally overlooks the OCEAN down to Long Beach.. it's super steep you would fit in there perfect however snow making is limited so bring your Rock skis if you ever make it back down here ! If you have a few minutes watch this KZbin video it's the real deal " Southern California snowboarding a sunny pow day at Mount Baldy " Cera Cyclura... if you ever come back down to go to Baldy look me up I can show you around for an hour or two

@@LucasCatania17 I finally made it up to truckee for my first turns of the year. I had a back injury workers comp thing. Just got cleared. I have lots of questions man. I won’t bombard you with them all at once but I’d love to pick your brain on some things. I filmed my first video of the season on my new GoPro 11 today. I’m on the learning curve now.

big bear is not too bad for a day trip plus they have night skiing. the wall (the one that was closed) is not bad and the stuff to the left on chair 7 gets kind of steep but gets old rather quick. literally like 30 seconds to the bottom. there is also geronimo on bear mountain. i love the himalayan restaurant there.

This is the first year I have applied DPS Phantom to my bases -- one kit did 2 sets of boards -- a permanent non-wax one time application. This is not an ad -- just my own rec -- I won't leave the chairlift without it!! Check it out.

Seeing try to find stuff at my home resort for 40 years and I am turn here... turn here... lol. I tore my ACL on a Rock there in the trees and my ACL there 2 times! Should have done Geronimo at Bear Mountain is So Cals Longest double black but on the other side. With lots of back country which is VERY Rare to be open. But GOOD when it is if your lucky to live there when everyone can't come up.
