Indescribably beautiful. The purity of her voice, the phrasing and the genuine emotion marks her as 'one in a million' among sopranos of modern times. While she was taken from us tragically way too soon her voice lives on, providing we mere mortals with moments of pleasure so sublime as to be almost unworldly. Somewhere Mozart is telling her, as Puccini told Caruso "God sent you to me".

Me too,. She died horribly young, just as I was discovering opera and before I could hear her live. The Solti Figaro, in which she stars with Te Kanawa and von Stade, is the finest rendition of the loveliest of all operas in my opinion.
