Lucid Motors was once hailed as the next Tesla, a potential challenger to the dominant electric vehicle maker. The company promised to deliver luxury, performance, and innovation with its flagship Lucid Air sedan. But after a disappointing year of sales, Lucid has been forced to slash its prices by thousands of dollars, joining other EV startups like Rivian and Tesla in facing easing demand. The company is now offering up to $8,000 in incentives to buyers of its most affordable models, as well as free charging and maintenance perks.
So, what went wrong for Lucid? And can it bounce back from this setback?

Lucid was a scam from Day one, a scam brainchild of Faisal Sultan that worked in Saudi industrial clusters. He joined hands with the west on how to con the Saudi govt into milking them. Faisal used to be a low level Chrysler contractor in the 2000s that has done nothing, and now sits and gives sermons on localisation. He hasn’t even localised an automotive bolt in his life. But the Lucid folks and Saudis have accepted him as a MD. Happy milking. Lucid will never work in Saudi. Manufacturing requires skilled manpower and Faisal knows there isn’t any skilled manpower in Saudi. Happy milking the stupid Saudis.

Tesla is currently offering owners who have FSD and unlimited supercharging to keep those perks if they purchase a new Tesla. Lucid should offer the same perks if they trade in their Tesla with those perks. Just matching Tesla offer will flip thousands of owners to buy a Lucid. I currently own a Model S with those perks. If Lucid wants to attract original (1st buyers), then make an offer that we won’t refuse. 3 years of unlimited charging will not do it.

The reason why Lucid fails is partly due to the lack of good charging structure but now that it can use Tesla superchargers, hopefully this will resurrect the company.

Add a optional gas range extender in the frunk or trunk for about 200 extra miles of range no range anxiety. Problem.solved. Then you need a under $ 30000_40000 model 3 competition.

@@cougercruiser yes with a fange extender in one of the many storage compartments it could easily do 1000 mile range giving gas cars the range anxiety for once. You could go cross country with 1 and a half stops for charging and fill-up bragging rights and still have lots of storage soan e. 10 gallon gas generator would fill unless than one minute. Charge 20 to 80 20 minutes. Instead of 250000 sapphires $5000 more for this gas generator option would be a first and make way more sende and practicality media buzz.

I love my Lucid and i look forward to the Gravity. I plan to get one. Don’t try to compete with Tesla. I have owned 4 and they are NOt luxury cars. Compete with the other luxury cars. If people want cheap they will buy a model 3 or 2. If they want luxury, they will buy Lucid or Porsche, etc.

I can tell you that even if they sold over 100K cars annually, they will not be profitable. Manufacturing at a scale is extremely difficult let alone profitable unless you create ecosystem around the product that creates other streaming revenue. Right now, they don't have any other than just spectacularly performing car.
