The Charlotte Richards actual storyline is very well written and performed. Tricia is a fantastic actor able to very subtly play these quite different characters.

Tricia Helfer gave such a fantastic performance in this episode. I felt so bad for her; especially in the scene after she kisses Lucifer, and she's just completely confused, lost, and basically panicking because she has no idea what's going on. It's so painful to me, not in the "so bad it's painful" sense, but in the "so heartbreaking it's painful" sense.

Did we need her back? Well, Tricia Helfer is a very popular actor; she comes with her own built-in fan base. She's also good, and the rest of the cast and crew liked her. So, basically, big win all around, as long as the writers can come up with a good story for her character. Which, no spoilers, but they really, really did! Like, her arc is, IMO, the best part of the uneven season 3!

This episode was dedicated to pudding ! The next episode will focus on two characters, one happy, one sweet. Season 3 is indeed starting a little bit slow, but if it starts going, it will be a hell of a rollercoaster of emotions. Another advantage of season 3 is that the audience is getting more background info on Lucifer, celestial beings, heaven and hell, that sort of things. Do you remember 2x14, Lucifer developping a weird plan to save Chloe's life after she was poisoned ? Season 3 has a much more weird plan. It's really worth watching it.

The outside forces mucking up the works is none other than Fox. Just look at the example of Firefly. Actually later when Netflix takes over, Tom cracks a joke deriding Fox programming execs.... But also these writers were weaving a lot of inter related story threads, some only to bear fruit many seasons forward, and they got a bit too carried away with distracting and sleight of hand to try to reveal the clues without audience immediately realizing it. This is an important part of Lucifer's journey of growth - someone he feels something for, and he gives her guidance on how to avoid going back to hell. Old Lucifer couldn't care less about that.... And Tricia Helfer is such a great actress and yes she plays a VERY pivotal role this season. You are going to love the back/side story next episode.

I tend to view season 3 as a chess match: putting pieces in play with a seemingly arbitrary randomness with the endgame goal of each of those pieces bringing something important. Is it convoluted? Yep. But, is there "method to the madness"? Also, yep. In regard to Charlotte, consider: "If you are going to Hell, and nothing you do will change that, what kind of person will the Devil meet when you get there?" We may not be able to change the outcome, but we can change who we are when we deal with it. As a fellow PNW resident and former Texan, of the two, I'll take summers in Texas, better thunderstorms. I don't always drink but, when I do, it's either Tequila Sunrise (TeqSun) or straight Tequila with 5 slices of jalapenos in the glass.

I agree that the Sinner Man is a weak villain. He doesn't pose a looming threat, other than what Lucifer perceives as slights. And the audience already knows that what Lucifer perceives as wrongs against him, aren't always so, but rather him superimposing his issues onto situations leading to misinterpretations. Knowing that, its hard to take the Sinner Man seriously as an over arching villain, and is more just of a confusing sideshow. They didn't set him up well. If they laced more hints of the Sinner Man's meddling into the episodes, he might have worked as a scary unseen boogeyman . Its hard to say more about him without spoilers. Having seen it, I understand where they're trying to go. But there was way too much set up required to get there. Combine that with having to try to properly address the individual arcs of different characters.... And it all stretches on way too long. That's why I'm not a fan of season 3. I think the best part of the season is the finale and the 2 bonus episodes afterwards.

As many times as you've asked questions about what was being done to Charlotte's life while "Mom" was in the drivers seat, I'd say, yes, we do need her back, now we'll finally get the answers to those questions Charlotte will be able to talk about the lost time, and how she feels about the "choices" she made while she wasn't herself and the consequences they had For example, while I don't think they meant to hit such an uncomfortable topic, the sex with Dan? It's a weird gray area of this body gave you consent, but it's my body and i didn't consent, very icky feelings there, or her children that "Charlotte" didn't bother to interact with, who she may not have custody of or visitation rights to, all because someone else stole her body I know she'd have just died and stayed dead in other circumstances, but it's not much of a second chance if someone starts ruining your life in completely different ways before you even have a chance to fix things Her whole situation seems very unfair, and i think yeah, we need the closure of seeing things work out for her after all

I think that Charlotte said she didn't remember anything but not everyone believed her. Dan probably didn't believe her and, since she ignored him completely, decided that she was just ghosting him. I do appreciate her role in the whole series, though - she becomes the cause of many a good scene. also, this is possibly my favourite season story-wise, so I am excited for you to dive deeper into it

Actually - in this episode in fact - she states that she's been faking being able to remember when in fact she can't remember anything, except feeling like she was trapped in Hell. And that she was afraid people would think she was going crazy for not remembering. IIRC it's been about 6 months.

Fun Facts: Season 3 was Fox's last season so I think they were trying to close some stories but it gets better soon. Also iirc Maze, sorry i can't remember the actress' name atm, was pregnant irl. Also by the end of this season and into 4 both Chloe and Linda were pregnant and you start to see the hide the belly tricks. My timeline is probably off on that though.

Just fyi - don’t think there were any strikes going on - this is the longest season to date. FYI, Fox canceled it in May of 2018, long after they filmed everything in S3. I think it was a mistake for the season to be this long though, too many storylines at once…

There's a lot of discussion on the season 3 storyline, especially involving Charlotte Richards. I'm on the "I love her!" side, but agree with many folks the season was too long (although I loved it). Compare this with the first season of Fallout, which was only 8 episodes of varying lengths, but they nailed everything: character development, overall plot, plot twists, and a final episode that answered lots of questions, but left some unanswered for season 2. On a different subject, I pointed out in another reactor's channel that by the time she finishes the Lucifer series, I will have turned 70 LOL!

Bringing Charlotte Richards back let's us get into the dynamics of Hell and the people that go there that was touched on back in the middle of season 2. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if The Sinnerman story dragged the show down into cancellation. It is not good. It's best to just enjoy the B plots and side character development this season and ride out the rest. The last bit of the season is actually good and will make you feel better about having sat through the rest of it.

We need Charlotte back because Tricia Helfer is awesome. Also Jewish and biblical tradition is that everyone accused deserves a defense - so the sins of the guilty do not 'wash off' on the defense....
@zemoxian
@zemoxian 28 күн бұрын
That may be true but Charlotte’s tendency to use underhanded tactics is the source of her guilt, I think. She’s not just in it to defend her clients. It’s more of a win at all costs motivation that’s an issue for her to confront. If she’s willing to break the rules or even the law to get her clients off then that’s guilt for her own actions that she has to deal with as well as any repercussions from those decisions.

@zemoxian
@zemoxian 28 күн бұрын
@@Sillydogification potential spoilers I agree in principle and I think the show missteps in this aspect. It should have been clearer that it’s not just her choice to defend them. It should have been that she broke the rules or something to get some of the verdicts she got. Instead it’s portrayed that she’s just a good attorney who works for bad people. That shouldn’t make her a bad person. As you said. I think if it were clear that she was successful by bending or braking the rules then I’d see her getting criminals off by using criminal behavior as unjustified and problematic. However by the rules of the show on how Hell works here. It doesn’t matter either way. If she was a good attorney giving bad people a good defense and she believes she’s a bad person for doing that then she condemns herself whether she’s ultimately right or wrong. She can sentence herself to Hell based on her own feelings, not based on doing anything wrong. That is a minor gripe I have with the show. But it plays loose with legal and police rules so I don’t think too much about it.

What happened to the show this season? Fox happened! They thought they were getting a spooky, risque, comic-book-based crime dramedy. Something to appeal to young male viewers. But, for _some_ reason, a show about a really _hot_ magic "bad boy" who never lies, and the single working mother that he falls for, turned out to appeal to a lot of women as well! Who could have guessed? 🙄 ☺ Anyway, you can charge a lot more for targeted advertising, so, after season 2 brought in a bunch of pesky female viewers, the Fox execs decided they needed to "fix" the show. 😑
