there is a weirwood symbol at the sept of baelor. Arya! When Ned is executed: she had lost a fingernail and started smearing blood on the statue of Baelor; When Yoren is cutting her hair he pulls so hard she bleeds from her scalp; She also bites her tongue or her lip ( i cant remember) when he is cutting her hair; she is also crying. I think this is pretty clear weirwood stigmata.

I really like the idea of the others being shadow babies (like melisandre’s) made corporeal with ice. Fire and smoke are fleeting things that require fuel (or, say, a body) to remain present, and will otherwise dissipate into thin air. Ice is similar, but is a much better medium to hold and preserve, as ice is inherently solid and corporeal, much better suited to remain fastened to the earth, literally and metaphorically.

Could it be that the Shade of the Evening Trees are a 1st generation Weirwood Tree that has been invaded, corrupted, and burned out during the Empire of the Dawn, and are now remnants of that bygone era? They seem to be more prevalent in the East. The white Weirwood Trees, mostly in the West, haven't been exposed to the same level of corruption yet, but are heading in the same direction.

The other hills are the Capitoline, Quirinal, Viminal, Esquiline, Caelian, and Aventine (known respectively in Latin as the Mons Capitolinus, Mons Quirinalis, Mons Viminalis, Mons Esquilinus, Mons Caelius, and Mons Aventinus) I think(not sure at all) it for most of the classical period was just the 3 first hills Just thinking out loud :) Thanks for great content as always 🤘

I wonder if the battle between “the sword of the morning” and the smiling knight was also a retelling of how the Last Hero was able to obtain Dawn. Listening to the story, I was shocked that he would gamble his house’s ancestral sword. Then I realized why (I think) GRRM presented this scene: I wonder if Arthur is the only Dayne who has ever gambled his sword assuming he would kill his opponent. And what would happen if the smiling knight could NOT be killed.
@DavidLightbringer Жыл бұрын
yes, Dayne is the NK and the Smiling Knight, a crescent moon person, is the last hero. his sword breaks and is notched a dozen time, all LH math stuff. Good observation, maybe NK lost a duel and that's why GRRM has the Others duel waymar

You were reading the Bran dream about him falling or flying, and the comment about the "other" dreamers being impaled on ice spikes. Their mortal bodies are dead and littered about the floor and now transformed into others (ice spikes).

Just gonna plug my personal tinfoil that is far from complete or ready for any real publishing, but it's way relevant to the White Sword Tower: THE RED KEEP IS A WEIRWOOD. •Let's start with the most relevant: the round, whitewashed tower that - in this video already - is described as symbolizing Yggdrasil. White tree trunk here, and we know from Shamanic Thunder Horse and other LmL works that Yggdrasil inspired weirwood. •A lot of the important dreams that happen in the story happen at the Red Keep, including Ned's Tower of Joy. •Weirwood leaves are shaped like hands. Tower of The Hand, Lord Pufferfish's commissioned Hand throne. If the King takes the shit then the Hand wipes, and there's no toilet paper, so they're probably using leaves. (okay, that one's a stretch, I admit. Allow me my clowning.) •How about that throne? An absolute tangle of swords, still sharp and dangerous, consuming those who sit on it (compare to Bloodraven, who has been so consumed by his marriage with the tree that he has roots coming out of his eye socket, and his wounds no longer bleed) •Has a vast system of hidden tunnels, is largely underground, and the people who built it had their necks cut so thoroughly that their heads separated from their bodies (see also: the talking severed heads legend at The Whispers) •The first time a pov character (Catelyn) sees it: //And above it all, frowning down from Aegon’s high hill, was the Red Keep; seven huge drum-towers crowned with iron ramparts, an immense grim barbican, vaulted halls and covered bridges, barracks and dungeons and granaries, massive curtain walls studded with archers’ nests, all fashioned of pale red stone. Aegon the Conqueror had commanded it built. His son Maegor the Cruel had seen it completed. Afterward he had taken the heads of every stonemason, woodworker, and builder who had labored on it. Only the blood of the dragon would ever know the secrets of the fortress the Dragonlords had built, he vowed.// It is frowning, which implies a face, and it has "nests" for the archers, implying birds (which is before we get to Varys's Little Birds, Sansa being called a bird, or Margaery's "hens.") That last bit about only the Blood of the Dragon would know its secrets - especially with the Targaryen 3 headed dragon acting as a symbolic Cerberus guarding the gateway - to the underworld. •After Eddard calls for the death of Gregor Clegane (via beheading, of course) Sansa and Jeyne ask Septa Mordane at breakfast if Lord Beric will keep the head, or if it will be returned to the Red Keep, which horrified the Septa, as this is not a conversation to be had over porridge. You know, porridge. That meal that is a paste-like substance. •The room with the dragon skulls reminds me of the animal skeletons that Bran sees. •When Bran enters the cave, the world becomes monochrome. //Now the stone was covered with hunting tapestries, vivid with greens and browns and blues, and yet still it seemed to Ned Stark that the only color in the hall was the red of blood.// •The Great Council room has tons of carved animals, hunting scenes, and a sphinx statue. The sphinx ought to speak for itself, man/multi-animal hybrid. Hunters would be the ones who take animal skins/furs. Look, I don't have all this stuff - especially symbolism or myths - worked out like David here does, but I do recognize that there's gotta be significance with these things. --- These are examples purely off the top of my head without diving into all of my notes so far. I'm trying to reread the main 5 books and collect all the evidence that I can for this, and everyone here knows what a monumental task that is, while also still enjoying them and appreciating them more thoroughly with the enlightenment I get from this channel. If anyone wants to build on this, you're more than welcome to. If someone else writes their own mega theory about it first, I'd love to read it! No salt, only love.

Carved out Petrified tree or just a metaphor?
@richardwithanarr3 жыл бұрын
@@mistermaestersirthomas9164 Weirwood trees aren't like other trees. They don't rot, they only turn to stone. They apparently don't have seeds. There's stronger association with blood sacrifice to them than other trees. We don't know their life processes or how they grow. I don't think blood would come out if you cut the pale red stone that makes up the red keep, but it could be literal. Probably just symbolic.
@mistermaestersirthomas91643 жыл бұрын
yeah, I just wasn’t sure what you were saying with “The red keep is Weirwood”. I could see a case for either, agreed, without question, to the metaphor; not leaning toward the carved out part but don’t outright think it’s wrong. Well spotted!

This is a great theory! I definitely believe that all 3 hills in King’s Landing are like “ god mounds”. All the major Westerosi rivers converge into the Gods Eye, and form the Blackwater Rush which probably flows directly under the capitol city.

I'm really glad that you opened up early by describing "blood magic" as the basis of all magic in ASOIAF. Seems like it's not an independent magic, so much as a universal fuel for the various magic systems. I guess the only differences are what are the mana costs and how is it paid? Like with Melisandre's shadowbinding baby - instead of bleeding something, her spell simply ate the little embryo inside her and took its place as the baby.
@DavidLightbringer2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s how I think about it, exactly. Blood is essentially the most powerful of elements
@BrimstoneVomit2 жыл бұрын
@@DavidLightbringer Hey, kinda fun to think of it as an "element." Though I ponder it differently, since it already seems to fuel other elemental magics (fire, ice, earth/green). It makes me put on my tinfoil hat and wonder if there's some universal cosmic Omni-Being that lends a sort of mystical energy to us in the form of life. And our use of that energy via 'blood magic' is basically us turning on "cheat mode" and hacking the secrets of the universe in the form of magical spells. I wonder: Is something watching this song of ice and fire, in-universe?

Ok, I'm a little late to the party here (and you may have covered this in a point after I have watched thus far). But what about Lord Ryswell as coldhands (and maybe even the 79 sentinels as his ravens)? That seems very plausible. Keeping eternal watch (check), crossed over long ago (check). I think I need to go back into the stonehands stuff and look for some symbolism. Tough to see the half-blackwood Bloodraven teaming with someone with a horse-based sigil, even if it's not a Bracken's horse, but still. I may make this a superchat or paypal next go-round.
@merkeljohn3 жыл бұрын
To add to this, coldhands whispers a blessing in an unknown language when the elk dies (Ryswells are old, old first men). Maybe the old tongue?

Ok, to tack on one more, it makes sense he'd know all about the NightFort since he's associated with the Night's watch at the time the Nightfort was active. Bran literally talks about him at the Nightfort.

Ok, last, last one, since I'm essentially just talking to myself. But like you said, sentinels are trees/tree people, spears. Fighters from the Rills (under House Ryswell) specifically makes up the spearmen in one passage. And they sort of attack the white walkers like spearmen in ASOS Sam III chapter.

Yggr is a name for Odin but it means also fearsome, terrible or impressive. Many other names for Gods are descriptions or traits they are connected with. drasill means steed or horse but could also be a name for a specific horse (but horse could also stand for cross or gallow) but if it would have meant Odins horse Yggr needs to be connected to drasill which is not the case in Yggdrasill but in all the other mentions of Yggr for Odin. If you are going further back for the meaning of drasill it could derive from Proto-Indoeuropean and then it could mean hold. Which could refer to what Yggdrasill does, it holds the world. (That are some of the meanings of Yggdrasill I learned over the time. There are also some scholars who are thinking that there is not a correct translation possible). To translate old Norse is always extremely hard. Especially because the made words up or stretched or shortend them to fit the rhythm.
@DavidLightbringer Жыл бұрын
100% it's never possible to do exact translation with Norse, yeah. I personally love the concepts are at the heart of their thinking; kennings are such interesting ways to express an idea! I think where possible they chose names who's multiple concepts fit what is being described. Yggdrasil is Odin's horse to journey the cosmos and it's his gallows horse of hanged, but also a hold of the world (hold as in holdfast). It's also windy and terrible, capable of unleashing cataclysms pinned below or transmitting the terrible knowledge of the gods

I'm big on the idea that there is time wimey stuff going on, so to me the impaled dreamers read as past attempts- both bran and others who could have filled the role - potential greenseer/ nights king/ Azor ahai candidates. Eta- I feel like your idea with the 3 eyed crow points to him being a future bran. Ravens and crows don't have the exact same symbolism, and Blood raven is Bloodraven, not bloodcrow. I think the 3 eyed on the tree and with the crow are a hint that there's a connection there. I also think it ties in with Euron being a crows eye/ anti bloodraven. Bran kind of seems poised to elevate above their perspective ideological approaches and become more, so it would make sense if his symbology reflects that

So there are only SEVEN Others? If they are symbolically the Night King's Kingsguard
@DavidLightbringer2 жыл бұрын
Six. Waymar, post transformation, is the symbolic seventh

@@DavidLightbringer Ahhh! Thank you very much for answering my comment here from BRAZIL! I came across your channel by chance in the video of the empire of dawn, and I found all your videos so interesting (I don't even know English, I read the subtitles of your videos in Portuguese) and when I blinked I was watching your video for more than an HOUR, and as Augusto Cury once said "the greatest source of human entertainment is the construction of thoughts", I was prejudiced with your appearance at the beginning for having a retarded face but you are GENIAL!!

Hi LML, Are you disappointed that "House Of..." got greenlit over "Blood Moon"? Honestly I was far more excited to find out what went on in the Age of Heroes, and I feel like I've had enough Targaryen politics and details published to last several lifetimes....but tell me the deep lore behind the ancient legends? Hell yes please. I think HBO took the safer and less interesting series option here.
@DavidLightbringer3 жыл бұрын
I guess I have mixed feelings, I understand why they went with House of the dragon material, and that probably makes more sense as a TV adaptation. And likely they would have made a botch of the blood moon show, and that would have hurt a lot more. I think I’m glad they’re not touching the ancient history, I’d like to get Martin’s reveal on that

@@DavidLightbringer good point, I never thought about it that way... Perhaps we did indeed dodge an arrow there.

By far HBO went to the right and most exciting path. The Game of Thrones was known mainly for its political side mostly with the magical side. Magic has always been less prominent and growing, while politics takes place in the five books. HBO was smart to choose the story that involves the two things that made Game of Thrones what Game of Thrones was: Politics and Dragons.

I wish most people would take your advice when it came to Jordan Peterson for politics and differences in general. You aren't going to change someone's mind in KZbin comments, Facebook, or Twitter (especially if they don't want it changed) so just block the people who try. Thanks for biting your tongue and not taking the bait.

I mean I wagged my tongue for a quick second but yeah don’t feed the trolls. You have to learn to tell when someone is being disingenuous as opposed to trying to engage in an actual conversation

What do you mean when you said at :23.37 the nights king created the others ? I thought the others were around before the night king ? I thought azor ahai created the others by invading the weirwood network and forcing the spirits of the Green Men out and turning them into the others ?

So this is wildly random. But George had a hand in writing Elden ring. Idk how much of it he was involved in but blue stars and meteors crashing into the planet is central and repeated in the deep lore. Might be crackpot but it's interesting
