Great content, as always Doc! Love my "Malco" locking pliers, got them right before they shut down the factory, a few years-or so, back. Well built, fit and finish is top notch, and built for real world usage. "Malco Products", great stuff indeed!, Doc. Oh,...Don't forget to set your clock forward🔜 tonight, Doc. - Paul.

Slight correction, they didnt buy the factory. The building itself is still currently listed for sale. The common theory is that they bought the tooling, possibly some of the equipment; barring that they definitely are at least licensing the "Power Ring" patent, which is still assigned to Malco but obviously Snap-on is using it on the stuff theyre making currently.

Pretty clever design and totally unique. Not a copy cat tool here.

I inherited one of those 4 in 1 nut drivers and I was using it on the road as a tech for months in my main tool bag. On paper, it seems great, but I found the ergonomics of the tool to be terrible. I was constantly accidentally pulling the locking collar when tightening or removing fasteners which collapsed the tool, hiding the driver you were using. Also, the triangular shape of the grip and the fact that you cant really comfortably put the palm of your hand on back when driving made it a pain to use. Eventually it drove me crazy so I traded it for the Klein HVAC 8 in 1 type screwdriver, which has been better for me since I mostly use 1/4" and 5/16" anyway.

Doc, You should do another follow up video about all these responses and explain what’s “fair & reasonable” to expect of a manufacturer’s warranty and how most of these warranty claims are truly bogus.

You should check out the Malco 18oz “tinner’s” hammer with leather handle if you’re looking for a hidden gem… that’s my new fav tool because it’s just gorgeous to look at and hold in the hand. It’s almost on the Japanese level of fit and finish but U.S.A. Made.

If someone like Wera or Wiha copied this sliding design and made it metric I'd definitely buy one.

This was literally my least favorite Malco tool. I hated that I purchased it many years ago 😂. It just wasn’t for me at all. I may have even tossed it in the trash. Or it’s in the bottom of a tool drawer in the garage. Great video👍

Can’t you put a box end wrench around the handle of that kenext 3?

Hey Doc do you have any experience with using the hex bits larger than 1/4? Say 7/16 or 5/16?

@@lastbesttool Yeah I found out that Koken made a wide range of 7/16 and 5/16 impact rated hex and torx bits. Figured it made more sense than an individual impact socket for each size....
