I've used Diablo blades in the past and I'm proud to say they hold up just as good if not better than sawzall brand, Dewalt, etc. The ONLY gripe I have is kind of universal that if you heat any of these blades up, regardless of manufacturer they all fail and fail fast. If you wanna max the life out of any pro-sumer grade blades keep 'em cool and that'll keep 'em sharp! Be that through a coolant fluid or just taking a few minutes extra between back to back cuts. TLDR: Diablo is great blades but have to keep them cool while cutting!

The reason the chip heats up while the piece stays cool is simple thermodynamics and mass. The large mass of the piece simply wicks away the small amount of heat generated at the cutting site compared to the tiny mass of the chip which must transfer the heat to air which is roughly 20 times less efficient.

If you were cutting miles of metal without stopping a torch might be better but he is using a cordless saw and the metal is cool. So you can quickly grab this make a few cuts and use the metal right away, not to mention you wont need to grind your torch cut edges.

I got the blade I put it on my skill saw all I could say is wow it cuts through steel like butter I cut an inch and a quarter thick Steel it took a minute to get through it but if you go slow and steady no problem and the thinner stuff cut like you wouldn't believe unfortunately me being lazy and not putting the wood blade back on to cut wood and now I used it on some rebar and it seemed to be doll
@johnpyle80274 жыл бұрын
I am familiar with Diablo Blades and I love them. I have them in all my saws for wood and both for my reciprocating saw. I literally (2 weeks ago) bought an Evolution Chop saw and an Evolution Circular saw. When using the circular saw I have to wear my welding jacket, welding hood set to grind and welding gloves. It throws chips like a damn chain saw. Ive only used it twice. The chop saw is better, but the cuts are never true and I have adjusted and tightened EVERYTHING. I went with the Evolution because of the reviews and the saws don't turn at as high RPM. That is what people were saying the secret is. You guys are in T shirts! I see a returned purchase in my future unless someone can think of anything I am doing wrong!

How long does the blade last cutting the thin and the thick material?
@davesanders92034 жыл бұрын
It last a really long time on thin material and not so long on thick material! How much is YOUR time worth? Previously his workers were cutting with a torch - THEN - cleaning up with a grinder of some type. I can really see him "cutting" his cost with theses blades.

@@davesanders9203 That's what a lot of people don't consider, saving time, even if you aren't running a business. I repair the family cars, and yes I could use a breaker bar and socket to remove the lug nuts, but I bought an electric impact wrench for that. It's quicker and it doesn't wear me out. If you are running a business, saving time saves you on the high cost of labor. The cost of tools like this is almost nothing compared to the cost of labor.
@berryreading48094 жыл бұрын
They last much longer with a lower rpm circular saw! With a regular 13/15amp 115v makita they are noticeably duller after a few cuts.

You better make sure Jack Nicholson doesn't play his part in The Shining and come looking for your bulletproof door with one of them cordless saws, and on the other hand it would be very handy when the wife is on a 24/7 bleed and she's got the key to the door you could cut hole through the wall and run the nearest pub.

With these new blades, It would be easier to build your shelter now, but at the same time, also easier to cut into your shelter now? You now need to know what it takes to dull these new type of blades. Would have liked to seen that type of blade on a large cutoff saw in action.

Just a home hobbyist and I'm reluctant to use my 6-1/2" 18v makita on steel like this. Plan on using my saw for life. So I would buy a used, corded saw for steel. Is this a valid concern? Also, after buying my first angle grinder and watchinga few safety videos, discs freaked me out so I got the blade and it's held up very well
@foodparadise57922 жыл бұрын
Thats a valid concern. Metal saw and wood saw operates on different RPM. Metal saws have higher torques for obvious reasons. Surprised no other comments point that out.
