I had to dutch wye the train 6 times a day and while I never binned it because of that I can't say its the safest procedure in the world. Sounds exactly like something the ES&DT would do, to be fair... So I guess you have my blessing to do the Lunar Shuffle, if you want an obs on the alarka transfer ;)

Hey Hyce! just an FYI for future ep's. any Drivers who disobey or Ignore Special Orders from Dispatch should be punished by sticking them onto the shunting/switching jobs using the pidliest Engines available. there is a Mod for Mail Service that actually gives income. I think each Pax station takes and generates Mail.

(Buzzer noises) early EMD model designations were based on horsepower ratings, so F stood for fourteen(hundred hp), E is eighteen(hundred hp). S/N switchers were six and nine hundred respectively. For my save, the difference in tender capacity mattered more than the tractive effort. My 3 ran passengers until replaced by F-units , was Bryson switcher until retirement, then was stuffed and mounted on the Bryson Team Track. 2 got traded early on for the first diesel.

With regards to buying things with both interchanges unlocked. Toggle the one interchange off where you don't want your rolling stock to go, and it should spawn in the only other available interchange. The same should be for coal, fuel, and repair parts.

Recommend doing the passenger meet at Bryson, depending on demand have 1 car on each train that gets taken off and handed to the Alarka train I think I've done 70 mph on the B-65-71, can't remember which of the two, just outside of Whittier I've also gotten the GP-38 to 67 on that bit as well "Inside jokes are not fun when you're the one guy in the group of 29 who everyone else treats as the sub-human and therefore not allowed in any of the friend groups." - a Hungarian on the internet

Ya know, watching this back, I am amazed how much of a problem I was, I clogged the east end of the railroad thanks to a hot box, binned Jersey by being too fat and slow, and decided to go full chaos gremlin mode once I got to Nanta. (Un)frotunatly no one was there at the time for that to matter. But on the bright side I did get (most) of my cars to their destinations and made sure the 9 knew to wait for the next interchange, so I still get my packing peanut right? : )

As far as locos go. What I would do. Download and install the H6 mod and use that for the coal drag. It’s what it was literally made for. Get a pacific for Jersey and get rid of the Atlantic. It’s not fast, nor can it haul a heavy passenger train. And as far as diesels, least in single player. The GP9 hasn’t tanked my frame rate. Must be a multiplayer issue. But the Berk is a better loco than the pacific. All a personal choice.

28:16 Okaaaayyy... you want original? I'll raise you New Zealand Railways K-class Northern K 900, the K-class leader no less! Entered service in November 1932, retired in May 1965 - that's a 32-year career - and today as preserved at MOTAT in Auckland it's almost completely original. Yes, it got a new smokebox front with recessed pocket for the headlight, a Ka-type funnel, oil-burning gear and a cross-compound pump in place of the twin single bangers on the front, but that's about it for the changes. It still has its original boiler and tender, plus the original frame which I mention because the frames weren't entirely resilient and nine got replacement 'heavy' frames based on the improved Ka-class design, which the 'other' two remaining K's have. What makes that all the more significant is that this wasn't one of a small class like the N&W J's were - there were thirty K's, and thirty-five of the later Ka's which were almost the same, except for the fact they were roller-bearing engines. Parts could be, and were, exchanged between locomotives of the same class, and sometimes across classes. So, 900 keeping all of its major original parts when it was part of a larger motive power pool, with a longer service career... eat your firebox out, 611. And back on topic, if you're looking for motive power swaps I wouldn't bother swapping 1 and 3, just send 'em to the scrappers because money and they won't be much use before long. If mods or new engines are a thing, the Southern Ms-class (4501) would be fine, USRA Mikes would be awesome - I _love_ the Märklin/Trix H0 Light Mikados but have avoided buying one so far - but the N&W M-class 4-8-0 would top my list, just for Alarka Branch stuff, and O. Winston Link evocations of the Abingdon Branch.

As much as it would pain Jersey, I’d buy another Pacific when I could and pull both fast passengers with Pacifics. I’d make new daily jobs with the Berks on east and westbound fast freights, the Santa Fe on the Robinson Coal turn, big Consolidations on east and westbound local pickup freights. I’d leave 1 and 3 on Alarka, 1 on a 3 car passenger hop, dedicate 3 to freight on Alarka instead of running the mixed since labor is not an issue on the ES&D and Alarka has a 2 hole shop anyway. That would be my current organization plan, at least before chaos begins anyway.
