Thanks for putting these drills up. I've been into shooting and carrying for several years, but despite confidence in my abilities, my training has been pretty haphazard at best. This series of videos has helped my shooting sessions to be more focused and productive. I have already ran the dot torture and 5x5 drills with a shot timer and it has been both a humbling and a motivating experience. I'm looking forward to incorporating the Bill drill as well. I tried a Bill Drill with my longbow at the archery range last week. 6 arrows on target in 45 seconds. Guess I have some work to do.

I average 2.34 on this drill. I ran one in 2.08, the other day, but have yet to break the 2.0 second mark. Great drill!!! I run this one EVERY TIME I practice.

I plan on practicing this drill tomorrow, 10" gong, from 10 yards. My draw is around 1.5, and my splits are just under .25, so my goal is under 3.0. We shall see... I just recently started working with a timer, so I know those aren't great times. But, I plan on getting them down, without sacrificing accuracy. I will NEVER just throw my shots around, to get a better time. I think accuracy is more important than speed, especially in a self defense scenario.

I thought appendix carry was pretty "mainstream" at this point(?), but some folks still seem to revel in downing it:) I say to each their own and carry the way that's comfortable and fluid to you, and if you don't know your weapon and are careless on the draw/reholster it'll catch up with you no matter HOW you carry. Good video, I like the cold format, and useful drill👍🏾

I've tried it myself, but I can't pull it off with anything but my S&W Shield 9mm with a seven round mag. I also have a bit of a gut, so the grip has a tendency to dig uncomfortably into my stomach.

This is a good warm up drill before doing any accuracy drill like dot or bulls eye torture.

I think my issue is I’m an analytical person... so I tend to shoot better when I first start... n tend to do worse as I start to overthink what I need to do for “improvement”. Anyone have a similar experience? Any advice?

Any chance you've found a weapon light that'll fit the px4 compact carry that has good candela? I ask because your one of the very few larger channels that actually have this pistol.

Not sure. I mostly rely on handheld lights, especially for carry guns, so I haven't really looked into it.

I appendix carry a PX4 Compact as well, but not terribly satisfied with my holster. What’s the one you were using there, or do you have any recommendations?

I'm in total love with my Remora IWB Apendix. I added a belt clip to keep it more securely in place. I EDC a Taurus TCP 380 and at times my S&W M&P9c, both in Remora's...

Thank you for the QUICK response. It would be instructive to those of us who do NOT appendix carry to see this drill from different carry positions, and to compare times, if there are any real differences....I understand it is ALL about practice, practice practice with any carry method...Just was surprised by appendix carry, which seems to be (I could be wrong) less common than others......Good drill and good video...Really appreciate the fact you don't rehearse it to make it look perfect :)

Mel Miller Appendix carry has gained a lot of popularity in the last 6-8 years or so, particularly among more dedicated shooters. With a closed-front concealment garment, it is slightly faster for most people than behind the hip. Quarter second at most, but probably a lot less when considering high-level shooters of equivalent skill. Against shooters carrying behind the hip with an open front garment like a vest or unbottoned shirt, I haven't noticed any significant speed difference versus appendix carry.

This is a bit of an aside, but I've found that my handgun conceals easier when carried appendix as its less likely to become exposed when getting in and out of a car, retrieving an item on a store self etc. Also, where the draw is concerned I've found appendix considerable more efficient in the winter time. There's less material to navigate when drawing from the 1 rather than the 4 o'clock. Just my experience.

i carry aiwb because it is comfortable. any other way seems to pull on my stomach and causes pain. family genetics i think. and a benefit of aiwb is being a thin build, i can conceal much better. having said that, yes you MUST be very careful.

Randy Cain teaches a lot of classes in Lakeland, FL. Highly recommended. You can find his schedule at guntactics.com. Tom Givens (rangemaster.com) also has some Florida class dates scheduled for 2018.

+Jadiel Any of the commercial timers are fine. Pocket Pro, PACT, or CED 7000.

+Jadiel Pocket Pro II is good and durable. CED 7000 has more features and is much smaller, but they tend to break more often.

I don't know if there is a universally accepted par time for the Bill Drill, but it should definitely be more than 2 seconds from concealment. There are not many people who can do that consistently.

So he's using a handgun almost no one will carry? How about an Sig P365 or P365 XL? Sight radius is everything. I can shoot my CZ P10 F way better than my actual carry gun, a Walther PPS Classic.
