Yes, both stories are very interesting-fiction and non-fiction. Wonderful study of history and of tragic characters. In the movie Phantom of the Opera Christine's dress and hair ornaments are copied from the Empress' portrait. Thanks again.

I have gotten used to the english version, but I have to say that the voice over dubbs are very well picked, the Emperor sounds just like I imagined him if he would be speaking english, and Sissi's voice dubb sounds like Gracy Kelly.

@Russqua .... Yes, I just received the 5 disk set last week that I purchased off eBay. It has 5 movies on it: The 3 German language "Sissi" movies (with English subtitles); the movie called "Vickie", and the compilation movie of the 3 Sissi movies, dubbed in English, called "Forever My Love." I remember watching "Forever My Love" on TV as a child and never forgot it. I was thrilled to find it in DVD format, and to see the original 3 Sissi movies. They are truly masterpieces.

Sisi is a great example of how a legend/dream can become entirely disconnected from the historical reality. When you read about her dispassionately, she seems cold, selfish, distant and primarily concerned with her appearance. I'm sure like all human beings she was complex and had her reasons - but the films about her are pure slush.

@csokijegkrem Hi to beautiful Hungary! :-) I also wonder why didn't the real voices? I have seen english movies with her speaking in english (undubbed). Franz's voice here seems a bit rough, it sounds softer in original and also her dubbing voice doesn't quite fit in there. I hope the hungarian dubbing voices are better! :-) But anyway it is better than nothing, gives also english speaking people the chance to learn about the austrian / hungarian history. :-)

@LuckyStarAT Romy Schneider ist nach Frankreich ausgewandert. Das deutsche Publikum sah Romy immer nur als Sissi und akzeptierte sie in keiner anderen FIlmrolle. Drum fand sie ihr Publikum in Frankreich und wurde dort zu einem großen Star, auch ohne Sissi.

I heard that too U have a lot of english dubbed things there. Well yes I also discovered that there's a lot of videos here that teach us of history of all kinds of countries, but hungarian history vids there are only few & not as informative as I expected. It is a very nice country, been there 5 times so far (mostly Balaton as kid) and once in BUD this Year. Goin back for a few days next month. I can only recommend this country! I like Magyarorszag! (just the language is difficult) :-)
