This thing certainly had some curveballs for us, but if they were all easy everyone would do this stuff right?

That was the problem the timing. Glad you were able to repair it.Just the matter of someone knowing and diagnosis. This was a great video! Thank you for sharing Rich!

Very impressive find. There are not many mechanics that'd of found it. Most would of replaced everything instead of actual trouble shooting / understanding the why.
@1982MCI2 жыл бұрын
Actual troubleshooting is a dying art/skill nowadays! They don’t teach it in any of the mechanical schools/classes anymore. They teach you how to read a scanner and change a part but nothing about how to diagnose and actually troubleshoot and track down the issue!! We are heading in a very bad direction with our younger generations and at some point, when we run into runnability issues, it will be a requirement to just replace the entire vehicle. But by then, everything will be all electric, I will be fertilizer (thank god) and everyone can figure out how bad they F’d up a few years ago by allowing this idiotic potato get installed, but at least there’s no more mean tweets floating around anymore…….. (as long as you don’t look at the China or Russian tweetie birds) lol

Happy Birthday Steve! You Sir, have a very beautiful ride. I love the old Chevelles, El Caminos, Camaros and Novas...lol been a Bow Tie guy for 55 years since I was 10. Rich, you make this work look easy. Thanks for taking us along Austin. Balancing tires is not rocket science, those other shops that guy ran into employ idiots. Kids today can`t think, Schools have failed them and just gave out participation trophies. I miss the simple ignition systems I grew up with Rich, points a condenser and springs for advance like I had in my `70 Nova. I miss that car, no computer crap, easy to fix. Stay safe Guys, God Bless.

Rich, when you asked how many distributors does it take to fix one,my guess was 42 ,😅🤣😂,because it is not a amc 😆😅🤣😂

Great job buddy first time I've seen points in years and if your not going to use the points Distributor load the Condenser up and you know the rest 🤣🤣

Your idle screws on a dual plane intake manifold are never going to be the same amount unscrewed on both sides the passenger side of the engine is always gonna have the idle screw out farther Its just the way the dual plane is, making them equal doesn’t mean better one side of the engine will want slight bit more fuel than the other and that’s OK fwiw Awesome video beautiful car

Small Red Fiber Washer in bottom of Pole Piece after Pole Piece is slid down onto main shaft, then Red Fiber Washer goes over shaft and down into bottom of Pole Piece and acts as a thrust washer between top of distributor housing top main shaft bushing and bottom of Pole Piece. Was there one in the Distributor or replaced with new upon re-assembly? Was the main shaft upper bushing Grease Well repacked? with what? and the flimsy plastic "cup" and Felt Washer present in the Distributor Housing under the Point Plate? Good example video of how important timing advance is and how much difference it can make, cool.

750 cfm Quadrojet has round raised cone on the top right over the accelerator pump. Easiest find is on a 72 Cadillac 500 ci engine. Just saying. Stock looking 650cfm Quad or more horsepower with a 750cfm. We racing or just following along?
@victoroneill79242 жыл бұрын
There was never a 650 cfm Q-jet but there was an 850 cfm Q-jet.

Clean work bench? Should be the first thing to have been worked on? First priority? At least in my work areas when I worked in a shop... It will need bench time for the Carb. Sorry for being the Devils advocate...
