Oldsmobile 455 Shortblock Teardown! We mean TEARDOWN! Big Block Olds Build Begins!

It's been a while since we had an engine teardown video and today this one gets a bit more violent than most! A new customer of ours had reached out months ago about needing help with and Olds 455 build to repower one of big body Oldsmobile classics, well time has come to tear down the shortblock and see just what we are working from.
Fortunately the only thing we really need to survive from this engine teardown is the block. As long as that is good, we're replacing everything else in this thing and topping it off with a brand new set of Edelbrock aluminum heads. Now all we need to do is strip this thing down... which ends up being way more difficult than expected!

Rich , I used to run crower adjustable push rods in my stock eliminator '71 455. They seemed to work pretty good. Can't wait to hear it run again

adjustable pushrods are only for measuring.

@@johndillinger8482 yes there is some for that. Crower makes them for competition use. I believe that they are the only company that makes them for an Oldsmobile. Dick Miller racing was where I got them

I believe the appropriat tool is montillo grande, the bfh or my favorite. The 3 lb cross pein linemans hammer.

Drift weighs more than the hammer. Something to do with inersha. Don't force it, get a bigger hammer
