So there's a theory that she was pregnant when snow shot her but she escaped to district 13 and had a daughter. The daughter found her way back to district 13 had a daughter and named her Katniss. Lucy Gray mentioned the name Katniss to Coriolanus and that's half of the reason he hates her. This explains how they're actions are a bit similar.

No. One, I feel like we would've heard if snow took anything to the next level with here at 12. He was 18 and in love. And two, she was presumably dead at 16-17 in the forest, never to be seen again. She isn't katniss' grandmother, but one of the other Baird members may be, they definitely heard the hanging tree from her and would've wanted to keep her living on with them. Anyway, great aunt is the best you'll get.

I actually think she is the ancestor of Katniss Everdeen because she’s very similar to Katniss by the way she fights for her freedom similar to how Katniss decided to fight after Rue died and she actually won the games like Katniss did here’s my theory: since we don’t know exactly what happened to Lucy Gray she ran away and ended having Katniss’ dad and as we know he eventually went on to marry her mom and had Katniss and Prim I think that Lucy actually ran away and joined another district like 13 to help with the revolution but the reason why she wasn’t in the original trilogy was because she unfortunately died before the events of the trilogy

The movie is based off the prequel hunger games book made by Suzanne Collins so it’s not like the directors have no good source materiel or are just making a new shitty story out of nowhere. Since it’s made by the creator of the franchise the story is cannon whether you like or not, I feel like it can be given a chance of being successful in the film universe if done appropriately but how about you wait and see the movie or read the book first before you have such a negative attitude about it. Plus, Lucy is most likely Katniss grandmother so even if it feels like her character is a Katniss rip off maybe that’s because she’s literally related to Katniss lol.
