If an article I read about the murder of one twin is correct the baby was bleeding from his mouth after she 'shoved a piece of medical equipment down his throat'. She then injected him with air to kill him. How did no one notice the fact that the child had obviously been abused in a post mortem? Another child was killed with an overdose of insulin which I would think would show up on blood tests. Either of these scenarios should have led to instant dismissal and criminal charges, as at best it shows incompetence and at worst it shows a murderer. The fact that nothing was flagged up demonstrates that gross negligence is acceptable as a NHS nurse.

I mean no disrespect to the nurses or the consultants who pointed out the issues when I say this but I honestly thought at first that maybe this nurse was the fall guy for failures within the hospital. After hearing the actual causes of death and the fact that she was in attendance every single time a baby had a major issue out of nowhere, I started to realise that maybe this lady really is some sick murderer. It is hard to fathom to be honest. How on earth could someone kill tiny, helpless babies? A nurse of all people? I know nurses are not perfect and there have been killers before but this was so unusual. I don't know what to think about those notes but the causes of death, the insulin, the intentional poisonings with insulin, too much food and air in the tubes, there was no way this could happen accidentally over and over again. She was competent in other areas of her work, so she knew exactly what she was doing. I wonder what caused her to start? Was she envious of the people with families who were experiencing the joy of a newborn baby and perhaps she thought it would never happen for her? I also think it was attention in general and attention from the doctor. She might have Munchausen's as some have suggested. This is just so sick and unbelievable. The jury took a long time to deliberate so they must have been quite thorough. May she never be released and the NHS gets itself together to ensure this never happens again. 17 babies is just...I can't even find the words as none feel strong enough to explain the anger at the fact that this happened for so long and with so many victims.

The trouble is we just don't believe things like this when we're told them. It's the human psyche. We don't want major trouble like this, so if were confronted with it we automatically try to downplay it or reduce it "No, are you sure? I don't believe you!" It's a natural reaction when presented with something serious, dreadful, utterly fantastical or a combination of all 3. I recently reported someone for psychological harassment. I was believed, this time. I wasn't the first time, despite some of this harassment having happened in front of witnesses. My abuser is clever. Most people don't spot what she does & they think she's lovely. Five years after I first reported her it's finally being taken seriously. Someone in authority has doubts about my abuser now & the complaint has been upheld. That's just low level narcissistic abuse. We all know these people are out there, yet when they're reported, the abuser is the one that gets sided with again & again because what they're being told is so at odds with the image the abuser has presented to the world. Now imagine if someone came up to you & told you that someone in your life, nobody prominent or significant, but someone like a neighbour you say hello to, or someone who works in the next department to you who you've been out for drinks with a few times has committed multiple infanticides. Your automatic reply would be "You're joking!" or "I don't believe you" because that's how our brains are hard-wired.

Erm, it hasn't because this is far from the norm. If killing babies was legal & commonplace then you could say that society had come to it. Until then I'd calm down a bit.

This unfortunately isn’t a new thing kids have been killed throughout history for various reasons
@onepunchflan3071 Жыл бұрын
This isn't the norm in the west but in other countries is pretty common and in the past babies were burnt or thrown of buildings during war. In the raping of nanking by the Japanese babies were impaled on bayonets. I say this only to remind you that times are much better now than they've ever been but sometimes evil like this rears it's immortal head

A study in the United States shows that the main cause of death in hospitals was due to treatments. So how do you tell the difference between random events and series?

This is like teaching . Some teachers and senior managers shouldn't work with teaching kids I seen this in my profession with the elderly and children in care .......

"The only flag raised was the spike in deaths." If that's the only evidence, then it's not really a strong case that she's a psychopathic killer.

Management should be responsible for negligence. They done so little to investigate the situations. Management are as guilty as the nurse for not doing anything sooner.
@IchaelGill Жыл бұрын
Be careful with my comments and I would say I have been whenever I have made one in regards the nurse named Lucy Letby and no time whatsoever have I given credit to what Lucy carried out as the acts she carried out were not nice one single bit. But I have to say what I have already said the management of the hospital were Lucy was employed were to blame as well and please a message to the press give it a rest and don't make out Lucy was either playing God or was the angel of death because she was none of the two already mentioned in many of the newspapers today and yesterday Lucy wanted to be a nurse and has a true desire to care for minors many years ago but what twisted her mind from a decent human being to the person she is now known once again only she knows or maybe she can't ever explain.

The same could be said for any serial murderer, yes, if they had found the sicko. No point in agonising, it unfortunately won’t change anything for those precious babies and their families. She was caught and there will be no more lost babies and destroyed families.

Yes! The managers at the hospital enabled her and should be charged with corporate manslaughter. May they never work again.

When kids are involved I have faith in the uk court system. Bit off topic. I've been to court twice and they've been fair and helped me get out of the downward spiral. They can't help her. They will do the closest thing to putting her in a hole and burying her They can do. I have faith. It's a shame she wasn't caught sooner. But you never think you're working with someone who's capable of doing something so disgusting.

Doctors and nurses are getting away with this all the time. The fact that we put our trust in them allows them to take advantage. We need to know exactly what's happening every step of the way but instead we clap for the NHS 😂.

Hospitals should be FULL of cameras 📸 your there to be looked after so why fear the eye in the sky. More CCTV More safety in our hospitals. 👍
@oseasviewer7108 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to burst your thought bubble - CCTV cameras merely record a perspective dependent on the angle the camera is viewing they are a security monitoring tool not a safety measure. In order to protect patients more staff is required (2 nurses instead of one working unsupervised) to monitor & care for vulnerable patients. And staff need to be rotated in their duties to prevent complacency.

You called her an Angel who became an Angel of death. She actually appeared an Angel but she was an Angel of death.
@karhukivi Жыл бұрын
What solid evidence was there against her, apart from "being there" which is circumstantial. I wish the media would report the other evidence. She had no motive and no obvious psychopathic behaviour - very strange. There was a Dutch nurse with a similar first name Lucia de Berk who was also convicted on the fact that she "was there" and also had tarot cards as a hobby, which of course was used to make her look like a killer. It is called "prosecutors fallacy". Turned out she was innocent. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4nIdniuftmrmKc

No it isn't, yours is a stupid response & it belies a serious lack of understanding for the highly nuanced situation. If you really don't understand & you think it's that simple or black & white may I suggest you seek diagnosis of a spectrum disorder, presuming you haven't already. Then maybe leave this kind of discussion to others. It's obviously beyond you. Take care now.
