Lucy did that Vitameatavegamin routine in one take, that's how good she was. And what was really in the bottle was apple pectin, which is really bitter. In a 1981 interview on the Merv Griffin Show, Lucy said she was amazed that she was able to do that in one take and in the days before cue cards. There will never be another Lucy. She was and still is the Queen of Television comedy. The

Of course, the Vitameatavegamin was supposed to be alcohol based..... so the more she took, she acted a bit drunk from it

Lucille Ball. Nobody has outdone her comedic genius yet. She was so stereotyped as a comedian that her natural beauty was overlooked, and she was a beautiful woman....RIP Lucy...

Lucy was fun. She was thought of as crazy, but really she just wanted to be more than she was allowed to be at the time. The best conflicts on the show came from situations where she wanted something that was objectively reasonable but was stymied by the conventions of the time - she couldn't because she was married, or because she was a housewife, or just because she was female. But she usually managed to figure out a way to get what she wanted.

Lucille Ball was the best. Those facial expressions are priceless. It tickles me to see people watching this show that came out in the early 1950s, 70 years ago! (I used to watch "I Love Lucy" in the morning when I was home sick in the 1960s.) Many people may not realize that TV was broadcast live in those days, including the ads!

You should love her - she was a television icon because a) She and Desi were the first integrated couple on TV (he was from Cuba and she refused to do the show unless he played her husband), b) She broke convention by marrying a man younger than her (Desi was about 6 years younger than her, they both lied about their age on the married certificate), c) She was the first woman on TV to play a whacky zany woman rather than the dignified sweet 'perfect' wife-and-mother role most women got at the time and d) when she and Desi divorced, she became the first woman to be the main character on a TV show without a man. 20 years of her life dedicated to television (I Love Lucy, The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy).
Lucy has been an inspiration for so many actors. In the sitcom The Nanny you can see a little of her in Fran.

I love Lucy so much and that one is my absolute fav routine that she did. She was so awesome and so beautiful... She had those huge blue eyes but many men of the day considered her to be a b!?ch when actually I think she had them running scared because she was not only a genius in comedy she was also pretty good on the business end of it too. She certainly knocked down a lot of doors for herself and the comediennes who followed behind. Thx so much for playing the long version of that.

Her physical reaction to that stuff reminds me of the reaction people get when they try Buckley's cough syrup nowadays. If you haven't heard of Buckley's there are reactions on YT of people trying it for the first time. The slogan is "It tastes awful...but it works." And it does if you get past it tasking like liquid Vicks Vapo Rub.

This is the best reaction because this was the most complete scene. Too many reactions come in too late in this scene, and end too early. This scene is at its best in its full length.

You know what’s so sad is that now days people can’t enjoy really comedy 🎭 with out have all those F~U’s, B words, How people look while having sex an soooo on… But, this is just my opinion nothing more than a Opinion… Nothing to take serious (cuz I enjoy those type of comic screens also, but that doesn’t mean I’m not open to comedy done in the Old Times Also),.. REMEMBER WE ALL HAVE OR OWN OPINION!!!
