@Reece’s question- when your body fights off an infectious agent, one of your bodies mechanisms to fight it off is to heat up your blood and cool down. Its why you get a fever and chills, this maybe the reason for the glucose fluctuations in your blood readings

Great video guys. Lots of varied sessions subjects and learnings. Can you please provide some details of your day to day training relative to altitude. Ie, 5 days easy training at lower altitude, then X sessions @ X altitude on X days.. Also do you do any IHE or altitude tent sleeping when at sea level? Thanks in advance and all the best at 70.3 worlds.
@simonkearn17083 жыл бұрын
Shame about Sierra Nevada. Loved it there when I went with the synchro team as a coach. Diabetics do see an increase in blood sugar levels when unwell
@claudiogpr073 жыл бұрын
Reece, when you get sick, your body naturally produces additional glucose, providing energy to fight the infection. The flu can also cause the body to release stress hormones (adrenaline and cortisol), which reduce the effectiveness of insulin, which is responsible for lowering glucose levels. Combined, these two effects can result in an increase in glucose, making it difficult to reduce it to levels considered normal. Lucy, good luck at 70.3 Worlds!

@kerricappy48903 жыл бұрын
You're blood glucose will be affected by illness or stress. It's normal for it to go higher when you are sick, especially if you have a temperature. As for the low readings, your body might have been working extra hard to cope with the training whilst sick.

Reece, sounds like you need to even out that downhill half marathon with an uphill one. We have a local race called Pier to Peak which starts at the ocean and finishes over 1200m above sea level... Just saying!

No, those are viral symptoms, they probably had COVID but being so fit they cleared it in a week.
